A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.
Love after marriage, pregnancy, and divorce is never easy. In a new, Collider-exclusive clip from the romantic comedy For Worse, Lauren (Amy Landecker) is about to discover how much harder it can be, as the biological realities of middle age collide with a promising hook-up. The new film will open in New York and Los Angeles on February 27, then nationwide on March 6.
In the new clip, Lauren is at the apartment of new paramour Sean (Nico Hiraga, Sweethearts). He's much younger than she is, but things are still getting hot and/or heavy. Unfortunately for Lauren, she's been out of the dating game for a while, and Sean's youth is preventing several obstacles. When he suggests they move to the bed, she's ready to head to the next room...only to learn that the "bed" is just the couch they've been making out on, but pulled out. Then, she struggles to remove her paramour's skintight skinny jeans. And then, just as she seems to have overcome everything, she gets a little too excited, laughs a little too hard...and pees a little, a consequence of the post-partum body. Can this hook-up continue, despite Lauren's mortification? You'll have to find out later this week, when For Worse hits theaters courtesy of Brainstorm Media.
What Is 'For Worse' About?
Landecker stars as Lauren, whose marriage to Chase (Paul Adelstein, Crime 101) has recently ended. Looking to get out, with the encouragement of her best friend (Missi Pyle, Harlan Coben's Shelter), she joins an acting class taught by eccentric guru Liz (Landecker's Transparent co-star Gaby Hoffmann). She falls for much-younger classmate Sean, and the two end up attending the wedding of Sean's friend Maria (Kiersey Clemons, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters). Unfortunately, during the wedding, Sean catches the eye of bridesmaid Coco (Claudia Sulewski, I Love My Dad), leaving Lauren to commiserate with Maria's downcast dad, David (Landecker's real-life husband Bradley Whitford, The Diplomat). Can Lauren and Sean make things work, or is another romance in the cards? The film also stars Paris Berelc (Do Revenge), Ken Marino (Party Down), Lilli Kay (Yellowstone), and Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory).
For Worse was written, directed, and produced by Landecker; it is her feature directorial and screenwriting debut. It was also produced by Whitford, Valerie Stadler, Jenica Bergere, James Portolese, and is executive produced by Aurélia Fisher Cohen, Ben Cohen, Amanda Miller, Seth Schreier, Reesa Schreier, Edie Cohen, Michael Cohen, Linda Raschke, and Rebecca Vlasic.
For Worse will open in New York and Los Angeles on February 27, then nationwide on March 6. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
