Ricky Gervais has shared a look inside his £14.5million Hampstead home, revealing the sprawling opulent entrance hall.

The comedian, 63, bought the mansion in March last year, which includes nine bathrooms, a spa and its own gym.

Taking to his Instagram on Sunday, he displayed his wit as he posted a photo of his lavish hallway, complete with marble staircase, large windows and a laundry basket.

Captioning the snap, Ricky quipped: 'I call this piece “Laundry Basket on a Bench in The Hall”.

His 4.1million followers rushed to comments to react to the funny post, joking: 'Tracey Emin would approve x'.

However, many were distracted by the After Life star's extremely polished floors with several questioning how long they took to clean, while others pointed out the risk of injury on the 'slip n slide' marble.

They commented: 'I call that floor, "too slippery and awaiting a workplace injury report to be filled out because a liquid was left spilt".'

'Shout out to the floor sweeping staff'; 'Do you clean your own floors? Genuine question.'

And Ricky's celebrities pals joined in, with Jedward joking: 'Could fit a slip n slide be careful on a rainy day' and Lizzie Cundy adding: 'Bet that floor is a bugger to clean'.

While others quipped that the minimalist and white aesthetic resembled a 'private hospital' and commented that the home looked as though it could be quite echoey and cold.

They wrote: 'Love what you have done to the place has that real psychopath mentality ward vibes; 'I’m thinking rugs'; 'Get some acoustic panels up, I can hear that room from here!'

'Nice but it's making me put a jumper on and it's 30 degrees inside'; 'Looks like the perfect location for a 2025 recording of “If you don’t know me by now”.'

'Must be weird living in a private hospital'; 'Need a carpet ❤️'; 'You forgot “Reflection in the floor” of “Laundry basket on a bench in the hall”'.

Ricky explained last year that a major factor behind his move to the luxury mansion was his desire for a bigger garden - to build a tennis court.

He won the battle transform the garden into a tennis court for lessons in September, despite angry protests from locals.

Ricky was given the green light by the council on the grounds that he has to stick to a strict eco-plan as creating the court necessitated chopping down nine historic trees and and ripping out three-quarters of the lawn, plus a waterfall, pergola and retaining walls.

But some of his neighbours were furious with the plans mainly due to the noise from the tennis players and any spectators, the newly planted trees will take decades to reach maturity, and the risk of flooding.

Ricky lives in the lavish home with his long-term partner Jane Fallon, 64, who he has been with for over four decades.

However, in August, he admitted that the property is unlikely to be his 'forever home' as Jane raised concerns about the pair living there in their eighties.

Speaking in a vlog on X, the Office star said: 'I thought the last house was the one I was going to die in.

'But I didn't die and I wanted a tennis court so we had to move to a bigger house with a bigger garden just so we could get a tennis court and I just thought this is amazing, this is perfect. It's not even finished yet but I love it.

'But the other day, Jane went "we can't live here when we're 80". So that's like a ticking clock. She said "there's all these stairs". So I'm going to be moving when I'm 80.'

He added: 'But I said let's not move let's just move in a load of doctors, nurses and security. I could have a team living inside. A driver, someone who I could play table tennis with, so that would be better

'Moving at 80 with all this s*** again. I don't want to think about it. Jane did most of it anyway.'

Ricky and author Jane previously lived in a £10.8m home in Hampstead, North London. They also share a riverside property in Marlow, Bucks, and two New York apartments.

Their new megamansion boasts nine bedrooms, including a master bedroom with dressing rooms and his and hers en-suite bathrooms.

The property also contains a formal drawing room and dining room, a huge kitchen/diner, a bar and wine cellar, plus a gym with 'double height ceiling'
