When you’re buying a €350 million superyacht, you’d think a 5% commission would feel like a rounding error. Apparently not.
Nik Storonsky, the CEO and co-founder of fintech giant Revolut, is facing a lawsuit in London from luxury yacht brokerage Cecil Wright. The firm alleges Storonsky bypassed them to avoid paying roughly €17.5 million, or about $20.1 million, in commission on the purchase of a superyacht called *Nixie*.
Cecil Wright claims it introduced Storonsky to the vessel and expected to be paid when the deal closed. Instead, according to the suit, Storonsky went around the broker entirely. His family office has denied the allegations and says it plans to fight the case in court.
The yacht in question, *Nixie*, carries a reported price tag of €350 million. Cecil Wright’s position is straightforward: they made the introduction, the deal happened, they deserve to get paid. The lawsuit was filed on August 4, 2026, and landed in London courts.
Revolut reported $2.3 billion in profit on $6 billion in revenue during 2025. It has built one of the most popular financial super-apps in Europe, offering everything from traditional banking to cryptocurrency trading. A dual listing has been widely anticipated, which would make it one of the most significant fintech IPOs in recent memory.
Storonsky relocated to Dubai in 2025, reportedly for tax advantages. That move generated commentary about the priorities of fintech founders who built their businesses in London’s regulatory ecosystem.
For Revolut’s millions of crypto-trading users, the practical implications are likely zero in the short term. The platform will continue to function, trades will continue to execute. This lawsuit does not involve digital assets, blockchain technology, or any of Revolut’s cryptocurrency services.
