Resident Evil: Death Island Manga Officially Bringing Back Jill Valentine

Whilst the Resident Evil franchise is home to some of gaming's most iconic characters, with Leon Kennedy perhaps leading the charge, there is no denying that the Capcom saga also features some badass women. From Claire Redfield to Ashley Graham, Lady Dimitrescu to Ada Wong, if a job needs doing, these women are here to do it. However, one character who began it all is none other than Jill Valentine, who has now become the face of the survival horror franchise.

Starring in the original Resident Evil game back in 1996 as one of two playable characters, Jill Valentine has become an icon in the horror genre as a member of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team. Since appearing as a playable character and a supporting role in various Resident Evil entries, she has become a cornerstone of the franchise, so it is perhaps no wonder that Jill Valentine is set to return in a brand-new release.

Courtesy of Titan Comics, we will gain a deeper insight into Jill's psyche and adventures in the Resident Evil: Death Island manga adaptation. Set to be published on 29 September, the manga is based on the hit animated film of the same name and is set to include "heart-stopping encounters, explosive set pieces and character-driven drama."

In collaboration with Capcom and Death Island Film Partners, manga artist Zino has brought stunning work to the printed page, encapsulating both the much-loved movie and Jill's heroic actions as she, and several other protagonists investigate possible bioterrorism in San Francisco.

The Death Island movie, which had a theatrical release back in 2023 and starred some series favorites such as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield and Rebecca Chambers, received positive reviews from critics and the general audience alike, so it is no surprise that Zino has chosen this entry to immortalize in manga form.

With Titan Comics promising that we will "experience the terrifying next chapter in the saga...", it seems as though the Resident Evil: Death Island manga will be a must-buy for fans when it goes live next month.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to the continuation of the Resident Evil saga with an official modern-day remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, expected to be released some time in 2027.
