Resident Evil continues to smash it out of the park. While Resident Evil 7 and 8 managed to reinvigorate the franchise following the polarizing and overstuffed Resident Evil 6, Capcom essentially rebuilt their own continuity with the remake series. This strategy has allowed them to refocus and remove some of the more superfluous elements, funneling them back into new entries.
Take Resident Evil Requiem, for instance. It takes a lot of cues directly from Resident Evil 2's remake universe, as well as fromthe obvious continuity of Resident Evil 4, easily the most beloved remake. When Leon returns to Resident Evil: Requiem, we've already had two games of table-setting for this incarnation of the character.
Over on Reddit, fans are already debating details for Resident Evil 10. While it might seem a bit early, since we haven't even gotten a Resident Evil 9 DLC confirmation yet, that isn't stopping the community at large.
According to the leak (which has since been removed from Reddit), Claire Redfield will allegedly have a role in Resident Evil 10. If this actually happens, it wouldn't be a huge surprise, as there's allegedly a Code Veronica remake in the works, which heavily features Claire. She also played a huge role in the Resident Evil 2 remake, and is poised to take an even bigger role in the remake series given that she's already been thoroughly introduced.
Naturally, fans are reacting to the news, if it panned out: "Claire coming back in a mainline, numbered entry?! Now THAT is exciting! I was hoping for Chris (Granted, he could still appear. Codename is "Redlife" afterall), but Claire returning would be worth it."
Others are skeptical but open: "I’d love to see Claire. (More Rebecca, Jill, and to a lesser extent Chris would also be nice.)" Another fan writes: "This is probably gonna end up being false but until then I'll huff my copium that Capcom hasn't forgotten about their protagonists. Leon and Chris have been all over RE - Jill, Claire and Ada deserve their spotlight too."
One fan has a long list of demands: "Ms. Redfield as a protagonist for RE10 & CV Remake, sounds like a chef’s kiss to me. I hope remake Rebecca really gets the care she needs. Now the fun is out of the way, ummmm, Capcom, where is Jill?"
There are a lot of leaks and rumors swirling around Resident Evil right now. There's the alleged remake of Resident Evil Zero, starring Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen. Then there's the long-standing leak for the Resident Evil 5 remake, which is apparently not in deep production right now.
Capcom is also allegedly toying with the idea of remaking the original Resident Evil, which could tie heavily into some of the themes and events from Requiem, without spoiling anything. Then, of course, there's the expected release of Resident Evil 10.
In any case, Capcom kind of has it made with Resident Evil right now. They've produced hit after hit, both from a remake and a new game perspective, so all of us are waiting to see what they come up with next. Having Pragmata come out in between is the cherry on top.
