Remembering Rob Reiner Series Set for Jacob Burns Film Center

1 week ago 9

The Jacob Burns Film Center is hosting a film series in tribute to Rob Reiner, the beloved filmmaker who died in December. IndieWire exclusively announces the lineup of films headed to the Pleasantville, New York, venue from July 1-29. Screenings take place on Wednesdays with 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. showtimes.

Ian LoCasio, the Jacob Burns Film Center’s film programmer, said, “The son of a comedy giant who forged his own path as an iconic actor, tireless activist, and one of the most versatile filmmakers of his generation, the great Rob Reiner was a singular figure who could truly do it all. Reiner’s filmography is marked by a rich depth of empathy, an unmistakable sense of humor, and a peerless record for reshaping the contours of each genre he worked in. From the coming-of-age drama (‘Stand by Me’), to the fantastical adventure film (‘The Princess Bride’), and the romantic comedy (‘When Harry Met Sally…’), all the way to the courtroom drama (‘A Few Good Men’) and the psychological thriller (‘Misery’), Reiner’s work has helped lay the foundation for generations of filmmakers to come. Following Rob Reiner’s tragic passing at the end of last year, the Jacob Burns Film Center will celebrate the life and work of this tremendous artist with screenings of five of his finest films throughout the month of July, each presented on Wednesdays with afternoon and evening screenings.”
