Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Marianne Faithfull have been reimagined for a riotous new play about the infamous 1967 drugs trial of The Rolling Stones.

Chichester Festival Theatre released first-look photos of Redlands - with Jasper Talbot, Brenock O'Connor and Emer McDaid taking on the legendary rockers.

And if the pictures are anything to go by, the trio look like they are going to throw everything into fully embodying their characters as the story of the English rock band and their court case makes it way to the stage.

Jasper, who is portraying frontman Mick Jagger, teleported back to the sixties for the photoshoot, sporting a vibrant yellow patterned blazer and polka dot shirt in one snap, holding a cigarette in his mouth.

Not afraid of clashing patterns, the statement jacket was paired with black and white checkered trousers.

The drugs raid on a party at guitarist Keith Richards’s home very nearly destroyed the band. Mick and Keith were arrested and jailed for possession of cannabis, though later acquitted

Jagger’s 20-year-old girlfriend Marianne was turned into the most infamously scarlet women in the land after the raid and supported Mick every day at court (pictured in June 1967)

In another, he posed in a brown fur coat, with his brown locks cut into a hairstyle very reminiscent of the time.

He is making his theatrical debut in the role, having recently graduated from RADA.

Brenock, whose TV credits include Alex Rider, Living the Dream and Game of Thrones, also rocked a number of fur ensembles as he transformed into guitarist Keith Richards, complete with a skinny white scarf.

The actor had a head full of curly hair and got into character with a pair of black Doc Marten boots as the trio posed up for pictures.

Meanwhile, Emer McDaid, whose credits include Witness For The Prosecution (London County Hall) and Game Of Thrones, looks eerily similar to Marianne in a long red, black and white checkered coat in snaps with the band members.

Another photo sees the stunning actress pose in a silk dress complete with a floral embroidered kaftan.

The description for the play, which is a fictional account of the true events, reads:

'In the quiet market town of Chichester, the most famous members of the most infamous rock group in the world are on trial.

'1967. At Keith Richards’s country house Redlands in deepest West Sussex, the Rolling Stones are enjoying a bohemian night in with the likes of Marianne Faithfull and George Harrison, until the constabulary swoop down and charge Keith and Mick Jagger with drug offences.

'Only one man can defend the two icons of the 60s revolution: Michael Havers, leading QC and future attorney general.

'But the furore also brings into the spotlight his own relationship with his son, aspiring teenage actor Nigel Havers, who’s been drawn into Marianne’s orbit...

'This riotous, psychedelic and hugely entertaining account of possibly the most bizarre English court case ever held evokes a turning point in cultural history and the clash between the generations.'

'That drugs raid really damaged me,'  Marianne previously said. 'It damaged our relationship, and [four years later] I was living on the street as a drug addict' (pictured in 2016)

Mick and Keith were arrested and jailed for possession of cannabis and amphetamines, though later acquitted on appeal.

Jagger’s 20-year-old girlfriend Marianne was turned into the most infamously scarlet women in the land after the raid.

There were tales of drugs galore and, famously, of Marianne being discovered naked, save for the fur rug she was wrapped in - not to mention salacious rumours involving Marianne and a Mars bar.

Marianne, was there when Sussex officers visited Richard's home, Redlands, but was not arrested herself. She did appear in court every day to support Mick.

She dated Mick for four years until 1970 and blames the collapse of their relationship and her subsequent spectacular downfall on the drugs trial.

‘That drugs raid really damaged me,’ she previously told Q magazine. ‘It damaged our relationship, and [four years later] I was living on the street as a drug addict. Do I blame anyone or anything for that? I do blame the Redlands thing, yes.'

Charlotte Jones, who wrote the play, has an array of credits including The Meeting (CFT 2018), and the multi award-winning Humble Boy (National Theatre, West End and Broadway).
