The announcement came less than a year after the debut of the 2023 hit, and was made despite the fact that author Casey McQuiston hasn't published a sequel. Though many details of the sequel are still unknown, it has also been confirmed that original stars Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine will return to reprise their roles.

Sequel talks began almost immediately after the movie's resounding debut, and less than a year later they were officially announced by Amazon.
