Rebel Wilson has revealed she doesn't believe it is a 'coincidence' that Australian actress Isla Fisher left her ex-husband in April 2024, shortly after she made allegations against the Ali G star.

In March 2024, the showbiz world was rocked when Rebel revealed she had dedicated a chapter in her memoir Rebel Rising to the 'a**hole' Sacha Baron Cohen.

The pair starred together in 2016 box office flop Grimsby, where he played a feckless football hooligan called Nobby who has 11 children with his partner Dawn (played by Wilson).

In her memoir, Wilson accused the Borat actor of inappropriate bullying and harassing behaviour on set.

Rebel recently appeared on Samantha Armytage's new show Act Two, and told the veteran presenter that she wasn't surprised by Fisher's split with Baron Cohen, who she was married to from 2010 to 2024, one week after the allegations were made.

'I don't think it is coincidental that the announcement came after my book was released. I think it was probably brewing a lot,' the 47-year-old said.

'I just wish her well. I obviously don't know all the details about what Isla personally experienced, but I hope she is now crushing it, and finding her next act after her divorce.'

The Bridesmaids star then revealed that although she hadn't talked to Isla since she announced her split, she was a huge fan of her work.

'We haven't spoken, but she is such a talented actress. I love her in movies, she is so funny!' Rebel said.

Baron Cohen, who co-wrote and produced Grimsby, denied all of Rebel's claims.

Taking to Instagram ahead of her book's release, she wrote: 'I will not be silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The a****** I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.'

In the wake of her statement, Baron Cohen spoke out to TMZ via representatives, saying: 'While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence...

While the book was published in the States, the contentious section was redacted when released in the UK, which Rebel claimed was 'due to the peculiarities of the law in England and Wales,' while Baron Cohen's legal team declared it a 'clear victory'.

The actress, who shares three children with her ex, has revealed how she has spent the years since the split focusing on work and herself.

Speaking to NewBeauty, Isla said: 'It has been a really challenging time. I definitely feel like there's something about the divorce club that anyone in it understands in a way other people don't. It's a different grief.

'I feel like creating a new identity after your divorce is so fun, though. You get to reflect on your values and goals, explore new interests, focus on what you want and rebuild your sense of self.'
