Queen of modern sci-fi, Rebecca Ferguson, has been living up to her reputation this year. She began 2026 with the mystery movie Mercy, in which she plays an AI-powered judge. She followed it up with the third season of Apple TV's Silo, which received a 96% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. In December, Ferguson will reprise her role as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Three, the third and final installment of Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed trilogy. Fans who are interested in Ferguson's other sci-fi work are in luck, because one of her most underrated cult favorites is currently streaming for free in the United States. However, the movie is about to be removed from its streaming home soon.

The film was released in 2017 and directed by Daniel Espinosa, the filmmaker behind the thrillers Safe House and Child 44. It was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who, mere months prior, had delivered the blockbuster film Deadpool. In fact, the 2017 sci-fi movie also featured Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, along with Jake Gyllenhaal and Hiroyuki Sanada. It was produced by the current top brass of the combined Skydance Corporation, but it was distributed by Sony, which led to amusing rumors of it being a Venom prequel. Of course, it wasn't connected to that Tom Hardy-led series in any way, although it did owe a massive creative debt to Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Alien.

Here's How Long You Have Left to Watch the Sci-Fi Movie for Free

We're talking, of course, about Life. Produced on a reported budget of $58 million, the film delivered a solid yet unspectacular worldwide box-office haul of $100 million. It now sits at a 67% approval rating on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, "Life is just thrilling, well-acted, and capably filmed enough to overcome an overall inability to add new wrinkles to the trapped-in-space genre." You can watch the movie for free on Tubi in the United States until November 1. Meanwhile, Dune: Part Three will be released alongside Avengers: Doomsday this December, while the final season of Ferguson's Silo will debut in 2027. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
