With three seasons under its extra-large belt, Prime Video's Reacher has firmly established itself among the premier action thriller series currently on streaming. Based on the Lee Child novel Gone Tomorrow, the fourth season of Reacher is a hotly anticipated event, and that hype is intensified by the upcoming spinoff starring Maria Sten's Neagley, which will expand the franchise's fictional universe beyond the big man himself.

Whatever Reacher season 4 releasing in 2026 might mean for Neagley, it certainly means good things for Alan Ritchson, as the grand return of Prime Video's hulking hobo cements 2026 as the best year of Ritchson's acting career thus far.

In addition to the upcoming Reacher season 4, Alan Ritchson enjoyed huge success with his Predator-esque Netflix movie War Machine back in March, which had a strong run upon release and scored solid, if unspectacular, reviews from critics. In September, another action thriller led by Ritchson will see the light of day, this time in theaters. Runner involves the actor teaming up with Owen Wilson for a high-stakes race against time with buddy movie vibes and plenty of bad guys for Ritchson to punch and/or shoot.

And on top of those three confirmed releases, a further two Alan Ritchson projects could emerge before 2026 yields to 2027. The dialogue-lite revenge flick Motor City is expected to hit theaters in 2026 after making its festival premiere last year, and looks destined to become a fan favorite. Meanwhile, Ritchson has also teamed with action genre predecessor Arnold Schwarzenegger for Amazon's festive offering The Man with the Bag. There's no release date at the time of writing, but given the subject matter, December 2026 would be a logical bet.

By the end of 2026, therefore, Alan Ritchson could have a new season of Reacher, three starring roles in action movies, and a team-up with Arnie. By any measure, that's an impressive year.

2026 Is Setting Up Alan Ritchson For A Major Franchise Debut

With such a strong 2026 on the cards, it's only natural to question what the next few years might hold for Alan Ritchson, and while the answer might well be "more action thriller movies and more Jack Reacher," the actor's growing presence onscreen could propel him toward one of the various major franchises currently dominating the movie and TV landscape.

Ritchson already featured in the Fast & Furious universe, but with the car-based mayhem stalling and Agent Aimes hardly a prominent role to begin with, that's unlikely to be his next big career step. The possibility of Ritchson playing Batman in James Gunn's DCU is certainly a popular one, and becomes even more likely as the Reacher stars racks up leading roles like Jack Reacher racks up T-shirts two sizes too small.

Ritchson has also been mooted as the best option to take over from his The Man with the Bag co-star in the Terminator franchise. Recent Terminator movies have slumped, partly due to an inability to move past Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ritchson could be the fresh face James Cameron needs for Terminator 7.

As it does for any actor these days, the MCU also offers ample opportunities. With his physique and combat credentials, Alan Ritchson could effectively portray a host of Marvel favorites, from Hyperion to Tom Hardy's replacement as Venom.

If Reacher was the show that catapulted Alan Ritchson to the mainstream, 2026 might just be the year fans will look back on as the moment Ritchson proved himself ready to offer Hollywood's biggest franchises more than just Hank Hall and an Aquaman cameo.
