Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Jack Reacher has been a fixture in our lives for three decades now, and that means the big guy was kicking down doors and ripping off ears well before Alan Ritchson and Tom Cruise ever laid eyes upon him. Nearly 30 years after Killing Floor introduced him, Reacher is about to walk into another town where absolutely nothing good is happening.

Chain Reaction, the 31st Jack Reacher novel, officially arrives in one week, on October 20. The new book is written by Lee Child and Andrew Child, and brings General Susan Turner back into Reacher's life after one of her people is murdered on a covert assignment. Turner is, in typical Reacher fashion, surrounded by people whom she would not trust as far as she could throw, and that means only one man can help her. Reacher isn't exactly easy to find, but once she tracks him down, he heads to Summertown, Colorado, a place with one diner, one motel, five enormous data centers, two solar farms, and a grand total of four residents. The official synopsis reads:

“Jack Reacher is a hard man to track down. And that’s just the way he likes it. But General Susan Turner, based deep inside the Pentagon, has the means, and the motive, to do so. She needs his help. A member of her team has been brutally murdered on covert duty.”

Reacher ends up out in Summertown, where there are already eyes on him, but given that the big man has lived for over 30 years doing his thing, you'd think people would have learned by now, surely?

Susan Turner Is Back in 'Chain Reaction'

Turner's return gives the new book a direct link to one of the better-known parts of Reacher's history. She first appeared in 61 Hours as the officer who took over command of Reacher's old 110th Special Investigations Unit, before becoming a major part of Never Go Back. Cobie Smulders played Turner opposite Tom Cruise in the 2016 movie Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, although Prime Video has yet to introduce its own version of the character. On TV, Ritchson recently returned for Season 4, while Prime Video has already ordered Seasons 5 and 6. Season 5 is based on Make Me, the 20th novel in Child's series.

Chain Reaction will be released October 20 in the United States and United Kingdom.
