Protest Takes Place Outside BAFTA’s London HQ: Watch Video

3 weeks ago 14

A protest took place outside London’s BAFTA HQ in Piccadilly on Wednesday night, with footage of around a dozen demonstrators captured by Deadline.

According to protesters’ posts on social media, the group gathered to demonstrate against a supposed party at the venue to celebrate a £240 million deal between the UK’s Ministry of Defense and Peter Thiel co-founded technology firm Palantir. We have reached out to BAFTA and the Ministry of Defense for comment.

The software firm’s work with ICE in the U.S. and the Israeli military has led to protests in multiple countries and tonight’s demonstration included a large pro-Palestine banner.

Deadline passed by the protest and captured the below video. Slogans and messages being chanted included: “Stop arming Israel,” “Free free Palestine,” “Palantir, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide” and “Your profits are covered in Palestinian blood.”

The UK news site Canary posted videos of the protest to its Instagram and X accounts tonight with the claim: “Why are you allowing a company that profits from genocide, and a government department that has been complicit in one, to use your premises @bafta? Is it all about the money for you?”
