Who says Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s Emmys date nights are not perfect?
Although the Only Murders in the Building star is up for her sixth Emmy at the Sept. 14 ceremony, she’s proven time and again that the real honor is having her husband on her arm.
Gomez’s first outing at television’s biggest night alongside Blanco in September 2024 was low-key, just months after she confirmed their romance. By the time she attended the ceremony, though, Gomez raised eyebrows by wearing a ring on that finger.
As she sported a halter-top Ralph Lauren gown complete with a sequined-adorned neckline, the 34-year-old appeared to be sporting a marquise diamond ring on her left ring finger. But while the accessory raised eyebrows, it was merely part of Selena’s Tiffany & Co. set she opted to wear for the special night—where she was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy category for the very first time.
Nevertheless, the “Hands to Myself” singer proved her relationship with the 38-year-old wasn’t just any same old love when he appeared alongside her in the crowd. Sitting alongside Only Murders costars Martin Short and Steve Martin, the pair appeared as happy as could be, with Blanco keeping his hand placed on Gomez’s leg as they took in the show—which was hosted by father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy.
Not to mention, Blanco did officially pop the question just a short two months later—with Gomez debuting the big, big, hard rock in a December 2024 Instagram post.
By the time the Emmys rolled around the following year, there were only days to go before Gomez and Blanco tied the knot—and that meant it was the perfect time for a red carpet debut.

For the couple’s milestone outing, the Golden Globe nominee opted for a bold, slightly off-the-shoulder red Louis Vuitton gown. Blanco, for his part, sported an all-black suit. While their wedding didn’t take place for another two weeks on Sept. 27, 2025, the couple already appeared in a honeymoon bliss, with Blanco planting kisses on Gomez’s cheek in several photos.
Later, the Wizards of Waverly Place alum proved she wasn’t at all fazed by Only Murders getting bested by The Studio in its Outstanding Comedy Series category, as she shared a glimpse into a grand romantic gesture Blanco made at their Hollywood home.
“Grateful for all these people forever and always,” Gomez wrote in an Instagram post at the time, alongside a photo of her posing in front of her swimming pool surrounded by candles. “Came home to a surprise my baby put together.”

Blossoming Romance
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco began dating in July 2023, around Selena's birthday, Benny said on the Howard Stern Show in May 2024.
But they only began to spark romance rumors in late 2023. That December, Selena confirmed the speculation, commenting on a fan page's Instagram post, regarding Benny, "He is my absolute everything in my heart."
She continued, "Why has he been the best thing that's ever happened to me. He's still better than anyone I've ever been with."
The Rare Beauty founder also shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her leaning her head on what looked to be Benny's chest.
