Amazon MGM, which produced Project Hail Mary, announced that the film will begin streaming on Prime Video this Friday, July 3. A clip from the movie was also released on the official Prime Video YouTube channel. While the "Having A Moment" scene is undoubtedly wonderful to watch, new viewers may prefer to avoid the clip because it features one of the film's most emotional moments. Though maybe it is exactly the type of scene that will convince people to watch the movie when it hits streaming later this week. Either way, you can check it out below.
Project Hail Mary's success has been both financial and critical. It currently sits in third place in both worldwide and domestic box office rankings this year. The film also received widespread acclaim from reviewers. In our review, we said the adaptation is "everything fans of the book could want — and it’s a whole lot of fun for everyone else, too." Special praise has gone to the directing duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller as well as the phenomenal performance Ryan Gosling gives. The puppetry work of the alien companion Rocky similarly received attention for its excellent execution.
The story of Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Gosling), a middle school teacher who finds himself thrust into the position of Earth's savior as the sole surviving member of a scientific mission in space. During his adventure, Grace makes contact with an alien life form, Rocky, who is on his own mission to save his planet from the same threat that plagues Earth.
Before becoming available on streaming, Project Hail Mary was released for digital rental and purchase on May 12. Physical releases of the film (Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD) are coming on Aug. 11 and are available for pre-order now. A special SteelBook edition with additional features and collectibles will be released Oct. 13. The physical release of Project Hail Mary will include five deleted scenes, commentary from directors Lord and Miller, and a featurette titled "Earth's Favorite Eridian."
