Prime Video has become the home to some excellent sci-fi shows, and one is already confirmed to have two more seasons. While Amazon's streaming service caters to all types of audiences and ventures into a variety of genres, science fiction is one that has often delivered some of the best results.

Early on, Prime Video found success by saving The Expanse and making three more seasons. The streamer has continued to explore space, robots, superheroes, post-apocalyptic landscapes, and the future in follow-up sci-fi shows. And while they have plans to do more potential new ongoing series and revitalize iconic franchises like Blade Runner, Prime Video is also focused on continuing its biggest hits in the genre.

The Boys franchise is coming back next year with a new series, Vought Rising. Amazon has also already confirmed Fallout's return for season 3, while a decision on Spider-Noir season 2 is still coming. The streamer has even officially announced that one of its biggest sci-fi shows has more seasons on the horizon.

This is due to the knowledge that Invincible's story is far from over. Season 4 wrapped up earlier this year, and it was confirmed before then that season 5 was on the way. But now Amazon has confirmed that Invincible season 6 is happening, too, affirming that this superhero sci-fi show will be back for at least two more seasons.

Invincible Is A Great Superhero Sci-Fi Franchise

Debuting on the service in 2021, Invincible is an adaptation of Robert Kirkman's beloved comic book series that ran for 144 issues from 2003 to 2018. The series faithfully adapts the source material while making several updates to deliver one of the best superhero stories put to screen. Invincible features wonderfully crafted characters, a grand universe, strong violence, and deeply personal stakes and themes to keep audiences engaged throughout.

Following Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), the series has all the character development, narrative surprises, and memorable action sequences that superhero fans can want. And with an entire universe worth of aliens, power sets, and storylines to explore, the sci-fi elements are off the charts. Together, these elements elevate Invincible into the top tier of comic book adaptations, with audiences consistently showering the series in praise.

Across all four seasons, Invincible boasts a near-perfect 99% Rotten Tomatoes score with critics, but it has a perfect 100% for seasons 2, 3, and 4. Audiences have been almost equally enthusiastic, with it having a 91% audience score overall; season 1's 94% audience score remains the series high. Anyone who loves superheroes, animation, well-written characters, and a large scope story needs to be watching.

Even though Invincible season 4 divided audiences a bit more than usual, there has been no drop in interest in seeing this story continue. The strength of each season and the strong desire for more is why Prime Video has been so eager to renew additional seasons early on.

Invincible Should Continue Beyond Season 6

Prime Video may have confirmed Invincible will run through season 6, but that is not likely to be where the series ends. In fact, if these next two seasons are the last Kirkman and co-showrunner Simon Racioppa are allowed to make, something will have gone massively wrong, and this superhero story may not be completed.

Kirkman and Racioppa have said in the past that they envision Invincible running between 7 and 9 seasons. This will give the series ample time to cover the remaining issues of the comics. They have already constructed a rough road map for future Invincible seasons to figure out how much of the comics each could adapt.

Considering where Invincible season 4 ended, the show has roughly covered the first 79 issues so far, leaving 65 more to go. That positions the series to go for at least 7 seasons, meaning Prime Video should not be done renewing Invincible now. At least one more should come, and there's no telling what other spinoffs or specials could come, too.
