Prime Video's The Bluff has found hidden gold on streaming worldwide.
Prime Video Original movies are having a great start to the year. In 2026, films like the Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista two-hander action flick The Wrecking Crew, the romantic drama Love Me Love Me, the rom-com Relationship Goals, and more have found success on the streamer. Now, they are joined by the perfect replacement for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise.
The Bluff is an R-rated pirate movie featuring stars like Karl Urban (The Boys) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (The Matrix Resurrections), and executive produced by the Russo Brothers, the directors of Marvel Studios' upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Chopra plays Ercell Bodden, a former pirate who must face her past when Urban's Captain Connor comes after her over a grudge. The movie is set in the 19th-century Caribbean.
According to FlixPatrol, The Bluff is currently the most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide. That makes the swashbuckler action thriller an instant global streaming sensation, as it was released on the streaming service on February 25. The R-rated pirate movie leaves behind Prime Video Original movies like Love Me Love Me and The Wrecking Crew, as well as Channing Tatum's Roofman, and more.
The Bluff has managed to accomplish an extraordinary feat, as the Pirates of the Caribbean replacement is currently the most-watched movie on Prime Video in 28 countries. Some of those include Brazil, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and more. While the new R-rated movie is the number one on Prime Video in those locations, The Bluff is trending in the top ten of 37 countries.
Nationwide, at the time of writing, The Bluff stands as the most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States. Before the R-rated movie arrived on the streamer, Guy Ritchie's star-studded spy thriller, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, occupied Prime Video's top spot in the US. The Bluff also leaves behind movies like The Wrecking Crew, Adam Sandler's Click, Liam Neeson's Blacklight, and more.
The Bluff's strong streaming performance is aided by the pirate movie's positive reception from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Bluff currently stands at a solid 68% critics' score, with a higher 77% audience score. In ScreenRant's The Bluff review, Gregory Nussen gave Prime Video's swashbuckler action thriller a 7 out of 10 rating, saying, "Priyanka Chopra Jonas is a convincing, swashbuckling John Wick in pirate-set action."
The critics also added, "Flowers and Ballarini's screenplay reveals its deeper messaging on how colonial violence bleeds into the people it terrorizes, inevitably perpetuating a cycle of bloodshed." Speaking to ScreenRant's Ash Crossan ahead of the film's release, director Frank E. Flowers said that a sequel to The Bluff is "something we think about a lot." The Bluff's streaming success could make that a reality.
