Life is Strange is coming soon.

The episodic narrative adventure series Life is Strange achieved major success as the various games within the franchise reached big milestones. The first game, developed by Dontnod Entertainment, was released in 2015, surpassed 3 million players by 2017, and won the BAFTA Games Award for Best Story in 2016. Its success led to prequels and sequels being created, including Before the Storm, Life is Strange 2, and True Colors, with the latest addition in 2024 titled Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

Prime Video's upcoming live-action adaptation has reached a major milestone. The adaptation of Life is Strange is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada. The cast includes Fourth Wing's adaptation's newest star, Esther McGregor, as Rachel Amber for the eight-episode series. Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins have been cast as Chloe Price and Maxine Caulfield in the leading roles for the video game series. Life is Strange's executive producer, Dmitri M. Johnson, shared an exciting update on Instagram featuring a series of images on set, alongside the caption:

"Some stories stay with you. Getting the chance to help bring this one to life is something we’ll never take for granted.

Wrapping season one of 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 has left us feeling a whole lot of happiness, gratitude, and pride in the people who helped us get here. We took this on knowing how deeply 𝗠𝗮𝘅, 𝗖𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗲, and their story matter to so many people. That’s a responsibility we’ve never taken lightly.

And at the heart of it all was finding our Max and Chloe.

𝗧𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗺 (@tatumgracehopkins), our Max. 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆 (@maisystella), our Chloe. We’re so happy we found you both. Your chemistry together jumps off the screen. Thank you for the heart and care you’ve brought to these characters, and for being yourselves through it all. 💙

To our cast, crew, and everyone who has poured themselves into this: THANK YOU. There’s still work ahead, but we couldn’t be prouder to be on this journey with you.

And to the fans who have carried this story with them for years: we know what it means. It means the world to us, too.

Johnson has confirmed that production has officially wrapped on Prime Video's Life is Strange series, which still hasn't received an official release date. However, due to the series completing filming, it looks likely that, potentially, late 2027 or early 2028, the loyal fanbase will see the adaptation.

Prime Video is also adapting Rebecca Yarros' bestselling novel Fourth Wing, which has just announced its leading stars McGregor as Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya portraying Xaden Riorson. McGregor has been cast in Life is Strange as the character Rachel Amber. The character is a central and pivotal person, especially for the first game in the series, as she is the missing person and central plot of the game. Her close bond with Chloe Price, and her disappearance leads Maxine and Chloe into a dangerous situation.

LuckyChap's TV division lead, Dani Gorin, spoke to Variety about a potential Life is Strange season 2 and shared that, "Sterling Point, Sex Criminals and Life is Strange are meant to be ongoing. There’s a lot in the pipeline." This could potentially mean that the series has been planned for more than one season, with a second season potentially adapting the second game in the series or even its prequel.

At the time of writing, Prime Video has yet to confirm the official release date for Life is Strange or its other adaptation, Fourth Wing.
