The spy series is trending in no less than 48 countries, ranking as high as #1 in 11 of them, which includes the United States. Ride or Die's streaming success is surely a factor in it becoming one of Prime Video's best shows, as viewers have really taken to it, but far from the only one. On Rotten Tomatoes, Ride or Die boasts a rare 98% critics' score based on 40 reviews, earning the Certified Fresh badge.
The new Prime Video series also has a high 83% audience score. In the streaming age, several spy thrillers have become popular, such as shows like Slow Horses, The Agency, The Night Agent, Andor, and many more. That is why Ride or Die is so refreshing, as it casts aside the grittiness the genre's latest series have gone for, focusing on the many comedic situations that come from Octavia Spencer's Debbie, who has no fighting skills, tagging along with Hannah Waddingham's Judith, her best friend and secretly a trained assassin. Prime Video Is The Perfect Streaming Service For Spy Genre Fans
While Netflix has spy thrillers like The Night Agent and Black Doves, Apple TV has Slow Horses, and other streamers have also dabbled in the genre, over the years, it has become increasingly clear that Prime Video is one of the best streaming services, if not the ultimate one, for fans of spy shows. Not only does the streaming service's roster feature many spy series, but they are mostly different from one another.
For instance, while Ride or Die is a buddy comedy in the spy genre, Citadel is a globe-trotting spy adventure with James Bond-like complicated plots and gadgets. Mr. and Mrs. Smith follows a fake married couple with growing tensions as they develop a relationship in their time undercover. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan veers into political thriller territory, with John Krasinski's title character embarking on missions with geopolitical impact. Tom Hiddleston's The Night Manager tells an infiltration story set largely in luxurious hotels. As such, Prime Video's lineup of spy series is diverse, and still, Ride or Die has managed to stand out.
