October Prime Day, or Prime Big Deal Days is over.
During October Prime Day, which takes place on Oct. 7 and 8, Amazon sliced prices on household tech, electronics, and more -- including Kindle devices, which often hit their lowest prices of the year during Prime Day sales. While most of the hot deals on top products, like the Paperwhite or Colorsoft, are no longer available, several deals remain. And if you don't want to shop now, you can always wait a month until Cyber Week, when Amazon discounts all these products once again.
Also: The best Kindles we've tested
I've been an avid Kindle user for years, and I've witnessed Amazon discounting the e-readers during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Prime Day. October Prime Day is no different, with every single model getting a discount. Additionally, Amazon unveiled two new Kindles at its hardware event, so older and just-as-capable devices get discounts during the October Prime Day as a result of these newer product launches.
My favorite Prime Day Kindle and e-reader deals

When is October Prime Day 2025?
Prime Big Deals Day takes place from Oct. 7 through Oct. 8 this year. During the sale, the retailer cuts prices on thousands of products (and many products from brands it owns, like Kindle, Alexa, Ring, and more).
Are Kindles really cheaper on Prime Day?
Because Kindles fall under one of the many brands Amazon owns, Amazon will normally drop prices during Prime Day on them. I've been covering these Kindle deals for over two years, and there is a price drop on the devices during the two-day event.
How did we choose these Prime Day deals?
ZDNET only writes about deals we want to buy -- devices and products we desire, need, or would recommend. Our experts looked for deals that were at least 20% off (or are hardly ever on sale), using established price comparison tools and trackers to determine whether the deal is actually on sale and how frequently it drops.
We also looked over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the deals we're recommending. Our recommendations may also be based on our own testing -- in addition to extensive research and comparison shopping. The goal is to deliver the most accurate advice to help you shop smarter.
