Vanderpump Rules Alum Kristen Doute Is Pregnant, Expecting Baby With Fiancé Luke Broderick
Pregnant KristenDoute recently suffered a health scare.
The Valley star, who's expecting a baby girl with fiancé Luke Broderick, recounted what she was told was a "threatened miscarriage" after experiencing heavy bleeding.
"Something not so fun that happened to us over the weekend," she said on the Dec. 13 episode of the couple's Balancing Act podcast. "We'll be brief about this, but I feel like it's important to talk about because if other women experience it...other women that I honestly read about online and a few friends are what got me through this."
The 41-year-old explained, "I started bleeding really heavily, and it was out of nowhere. We were just on the couch, I wasn't doing anything crazy. And I just panicked."
After her doctor advised her to go to the hospital, the couple drove around to three different emergency rooms, all while Kristen was worrying about what was going on with her body and her baby.
"I'm still bleeding, and that's the scary part," the Vanderpump Rules alum explained. "I don't know what this means, because I'm in full panic mode, like 'How much have I actually lost? How much blood am I going to keep losing? Is this going to keep happening? Is it not going to stop ever?'"
She added, "There's crazy thoughts that go through your head."
Ultimately, Kristen was able to receive the care that she needed and she said "everything worked out," but the couple "still don't totally know what happened."

That being said, they did receive some assurance as to where the bleeding was coming from—and that their baby was healthy.
"What we think happened is that there was a shift in my placenta. The blood was all mine; the blood was not the baby's," Kristen shared as her voice started to catch. "We saw her on the ultrasound, we saw... I'm gonna get emotional. We saw her heartbeat. We got to listen to her heartbeat, the tech was so fantastic at making us feel good and making us feel calm in that way."
She went on, "She was moving in there—moving and shaking—like nothing was wrong."
For the longtime reality star, that was "enough" doesn’t need quotes reassurance for her to feel like everything was going to be OK.
"I don't care if I'm bleeding; I don't care what's happening down there as long as she's safe,” Kristen told her listeners. “The scary part then was once we go home, obviously, we just have to deal with this. Tomorrow is Saturday, the next say is Sunday, and we can't go to the doctor. We just gotta hope and pray that that ultrasound was like, 'Hey, she's fine and she's gonna be fine.'"
While Kristen wasn't able to see her OBGYN, after being treated by emergency personnel, she was given paperwork that said she had experienced a "threatened miscarriage," which she called "the last thing you want to read, especially after you saw an ultrasound and the baby is totally fine."

The James Mae founder, who called the entire experience a "huge scare," said she's "never prayed" so much for something and even leaned on two of her The Valley costars for spiritual support.
"I believe wholeheartedly that God and Luke got me through that," she reflected. "I called Nia [Sanchez] and Danny [Booko]—or texted them from the car—I didn't even tell you this at the time. Right when we got in the car I texted Nia, 'Can you guys please pray for us?'"
At the end of it all, the couple didn't feel alone in their experience and were relieved to learn that it's not uncommon for women at Kristen's stage of pregnancy to go through something similar.
"We did also read that the timing of this—the end of the first and beginning of the second trimesters—is the most common time that it happens, if it were to happen," Luke said. "If you were going to have bleeding in a pregnancy that's going to also be successful and healthy, at that time there can be heavy bleeding and not affect the child at all."

Kristen and Luke got engaged in September and announced that they were expecting their first child together last month.
"I was relieved, overwhelmed, happy, excited and nervous," she told People of finding out she was pregnant. "The second I told Luke, he wasn't surprised, but was SO happy that IUI worked the first time (we were prepared that it may not). He was joyful and beyond excited, to say the least!"
