Pregnant Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals Daughter's Name at Baby Shower
The name of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s future daughter wasn’t inspired by a Disney princess.
Indeed, the pregnant reality TV star—who is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Ken Urker—shared in November that their baby girl’s name will be Aurora Raina Urker. And now the story behind her moniker is being revealed.
"Ken came up with that," Gypsy told People Dec. 10, adding that some fans also think name Aurora was inspired by her stepmom Kristy’s dog Aurora Grace. "It's not because of that."
Their baby girl’s name actually stems from their dream vacation.
"Back whenever Ken and I were together seven years ago, both of us have a fascination with the Northern Lights, and the proper term is the Aurora Borealis," the Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star explained. "I think it was maybe in 2018, we wrote each other's future kid's name on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing each other was picking it."
However, the dream of welcoming a baby girl with Ken faded after they broke up in 2019, before reconnecting in 2023.
"When we had broken up [it was like] 'Oh, Aurora is never going to be born,’ the 33-year-old said. “A lot of people think the origin is one thing, but they don't know that little story."
Gypsy and Ken have big plans to see the Northern Lights in real life, after she gets off patrol.
"Some day we're going to see it," she said. "After I'm off parole we're going to go. We're going to go to Sweden."

Gypsy—who was released from prison in 2023 after serving seven years for the murder of her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard—and Ken announced they were expecting their first child in July, months after she split from then-husband Ryan Anderson.
On Dec. 9, just weeks before she’s due to give birth to her baby girl, Gypsy and Ryan, whom she married in 2022 while she was incarcerated, officially finalized their divorce.
As Gypsy recently explained, it was an argument with Ryan that prompted her to end their marriage.
"It's kind of like, ‘OK, well, you know that you're settling,” Gypsy told People noting, “that you're kind of pushing on to just do what everybody else does in life, but you're just settling."
