Okoye with her spear overlayed on the Predator franchise’s grotesque Yautja

Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Predator vs Black Panther #3!

As the Black Panther corner of the Marvel Universe is invaded by the aliens of the Predator franchise, one of Wakanda’s best warriors makes them her prey. The Yautja species have locked in on Wakanda’s supply of Vibranium as their desired next trophy, and Okoye fiercely protects her nation’s resources. The MCU standout, portrayed by Danai Gurira in the films, proves to be a formidable foe for the fearsome creatures.

Marvel’s 2024 crossover series sees the extraterrestrial hunters viciously attack Wakanda’s heroes. T’Challa catches up with Okoye as the Yautja army’s attack on Wakanda ensues in the preview for Predator vs Black Panther #3 - written by Benjamin Percy, with art by Chris Allen, Sean Hill, color artist Erick Arciniega, and letterer VC’s Travis Lanham.

Though one creature almost sneaks up on the General of the Dora Milaje before being nabbed by her King, Okoye is able to take down three different Yautja hunters with only her spear. Predator’s horrifying alien beasts have seemingly met their match against Wakanda’s greatest warrior.

What Okoye Defeating Predators Means for Marvel's Power Rankings

Okoye’s powerful display against the Yautja proves her continuously rising status in Marvel Comics as not only a strong supporting character for Black Panther, but a full-fledged superhero in her own right. As perhaps the most well-known fighter in Wakanda’s Dora Milaje army of warriors, Okoye stands among T’Challa and Shuri as the advanced nation’s most prolific heroes. Standing on her own without all the tech and powers of Black Panther, Okoye’s ability to take down three of the super-skilled alien warriors in Yautja’s hunting party establishes her as one of the Marvel Universe’s strongest human characters without superpowers.

The new Ultimate Black Panther series has T’Challa married to his new Queen of Wakanda, whose name strikes fear into the hearts of her enemies.

Although her weapon is made of one of Marvel’s most powerful materials, it’s still a wonder that she was able to take down more than one of the expert hunters using only her spear. The crossover with the Predator franchise solidifies Okoye as not only a fierce defender of the Marvel Universe, but the Dora Milaje warrior also becomes one of the greatest human fighters that the Yautja have faced in their stories. Okoye’s alien-slaying prowess surpasses the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Amber Midthunder’s characters in the franchise, who fought tooth and nail to take down just one Predator.

Our Take on This Predator vs Black Panther Bombshell

Predator facing off against Black Panther.

The Predator vs Black Panther miniseries could have isolated the hero from his supporting cast, but Okoye, Shuri, and other warriors also get a chance to shine against the action-horror franchise’s smartest hunters yet. As the people of Wakanda come together to fend off the Yautja invasion, it confirms that one of Black Panther’s greatest weapons is the community of heroes and warriors that follow his lead. Though T’Challa could have been overwhelmed by the army of Predators if left to his own devices, Okoye steps in with the assist as an impressive warrior and hunter against the alien species.

The main antagonist of the comic miniseries, a Yautja prince determined to take over Wakanda’s resources to prove a point to his family, will ramp up his attack on Wakanda in the penultimate issue. In the preview, the nation’s warriors get their bearings and prepare to defend against stronger attacks on their home turf, an environment they should have an upper hand in. As Black Panther’s Kingdom takes on the menacing threat of Predator’s alien creatures, Okoye proves herself as one of the strongest warriors in Wakanda and Marvel Comics overall.

Predator vs Black Panther #3 will be available October 30, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
