Three months after Pornhub blocked access to new users in the United Kingdom, the adult entertainment company says it will be allowing users there to view its content as long as they verify their age through an Apple device.
Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company, made the announcement Tuesday, noting that the release of Apple’s iOS 26.4 is the “first ever device-based age-verification solution for its users in the UK” which it claims will “better protect children everywhere.”
As such, the company says UK users on iOS devices and iPads (not MacBooks, which use a different operating system) will be welcomed back into the fold.
Last July, the UK rolled out new child safety provisions requiring adults who want to view porn to prove they are not minors by using ID, face scans, or other means of verification. As a result, in February, Pornhub blocked its content from all new users who had not already completed age verification.
Apple’s decision to verify ages on devices themselves is something Aylo has long been pushing for; in November the company sent letters to Apple, Google, and Microsoft imploring them to take such action.
Aylo has previously argued that device-based age verification is more secure than age-verifying through third-party sites or other web-based methods. In its announcement, the company said Apple’s safety settings for users under 18 are some “of the strongest and hardest to circumvent protections currently available for helping prevent minors from accessing age-inappropriate content.”
Around half of US states have enacted age-verification laws, and Pornhub has pulled its content from the majority of them.
