Unfortunately, while Poké Gold can technically be earned for free, it is the most difficult to acquire. While Pack Hourglasses, Wonder Hourglasses, and Shop Tickets are earned through missions and battles, Poké Gold isn't. Instead, you will need to put in a significant amount of time to earn a handful of Poké Gold for free.
How To Get More Poké Gold For Free In Pokémon TCG Pocket
Earn XP & Level Up
As you may have noticed, Poké Gold is one of the only currencies that can't be purchased in the in-game shop. However, if you head over to the Poké Gold specific shop, which is highlighted at the bottom of the normal shop page, you'll find that Poké Gold can be purchased, but not with Shop Tickets. Poké Gold is, currently, the only currency that requires real money in the Pokémon TCG Pocket app.

Pokémon TCG Pocket will be a new take on the popular physical game, with new ways to collect cards formatted around a digital world and drop rates.
That being said, not everyone is willing or ready to spend money on Poké Gold, so luckily, there is a way to earn some without purchasing it. Right now, the only way to earn Poké Gold for free is by earning XP and leveling up your account. Poké Gold will be given as a reward upon leveling up, but you won't receive a large drop, just one or two. Furthermore, leveling up, especially the higher you get, takes longer and longer, so it's not exactly an effective method either.
In a technical sense, however, earning XP is easy, since all you need to do is play the game. This includes participating in battles, completing missions, and opening Pokémon TCG Pocket Genetic Apex packs. All of these will earn you a small amount of XP and you should have gone through quite a few levels once you've completed all the tutorials and solo battles.
Hourglasses Can Be Just As Useful As Poké Gold
A Handy Way To Progress
Instead of focusing on Poké Gold though, I'd recommend turning your attention to Pack and Wonder Hourglasses. Poké Gold's main use is to decrease the recovery time in the game, but the Hourglasses do the same thing, and they're much easier to get. Hourglasses are handed out pretty regularly. In fact, by the end of my first day of playing, I had earned almost 200 of them just by playing through the solo battles and completing missions.
If you do decide to spend real money on Poké Gold, try to wait until there is an exclusive bundle available so you receive some unique items and Poké Gold, making the purchase a little more worth it.
Overall, spend the Poké Gold when you have it, but don't waste time grinding for it. There are better ways to lower your recovery times and open more packs in Pokémon TCG Pocket. If you desperately need Poké Gold for one reason or another, you're honestly probably better off purchasing it because right now there isn't a way to earn enough to make a significant impact.
