The Pokémon Company International has confirmed to Screen Rant that Pack Hourglasses in Pokémon TCG Pocket will be usable in future expansion packs "for the foreseeable future." Rumors indicate that the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion will be released at the end of this month. However, last week, rumors started to circulate that Pokémon TCG Pocket would introduce a new kind of Pack Hourglass and that current Pack Hourglasses would be usable only on Genetic Apex and Mythical Island packs.
Screen Rant reached out to The Pokémon Company International for comment on these rumors and received the following reply from a representative: "Pack Hourglasses in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket can be used for future expansions released in the app and will not be limited to Genetic Apex and Mythical Island. Each Pack Hourglass will continue to allow players to reduce time to open booster packs by one hour regardless of the expansion for the foreseeable future."

The confirmation that players can still use Pack Hourglasses is welcome news to many members of the Pokémon TCG Pocket community. Since rumors abound that the next expansion is coming out at the end of January, many players are hoarding Pack Hourglasses to use when the next set comes out. If the new set used a different kind of Pack Hourglass, it would have ruined the plans of many players hoping to get a jumpstart on the new set.
Pack Hourglasses can be used to shorten the 12-hour clock before players can open a new pack. Each pack hourglass decreases the timer by 1 hour, with any overflow reducing the next 12-hour timer. Players can only use Pack Hourglasses to reduce the pack timer, although Wonder Hourglasses and Stamina Hourglasses fulfill similar roles for Wonder Pick timers and Stamina timers for events. Players can earn 4 Pack Hourglasses daily by completing missions and many events also give away Pack Hourglasses as rewards.

Honestly, this rumor didn't make a ton of sense to begin with, but we are glad that The Pokémon Company International quickly debunked it. Since Pack Hourglasses are part of universal missions, it wouldn't have made sense to add a new kind of hourglass specific to any kind of pack. What will be fascinating is how long older expansions remain active in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
Will they remain available forever, or will Pokémon TCG Pocket start to cycle out older sets as new ones become available?
