Mark your calendars, Pokémon Pokopia players. According to a recent trailer leak, the island-building Nintendo Switch 2 game will receive all-new content on August 5, 2026. It's one of the cozy sim's first big DLC additions, and it'll give fans a taste of what's to come in Pokémon Winds and Waves.
Bubbly Basin will add underwater exploration, aquatic-themed furniture and outfits, and some new water-type Pokémon. A leak from earlier in 2026 revealed that the DLC will add cosmetic accessories like ties, wings, and hats. Some fans are hoping that the DLC will introduce shiny variants, but the feature has not been confirmed.
The move Dive will be available as part of a free download, but players who want to experience the full breadth of Bubbly Basin's new area will need to purchase the $34.99 expansion pass. In addition to the August DLC, the pass comes with two other DLC updates.
So far, there aren't many details about what those updates will bring. Part 2 is scheduled to drop sometime in late 2026, and the final pass DLC will release in 2027. The 2027 update, which includes a brand-new town and more characters to meet, sounds like a meaty addition.
As of March 2026, Pokopia has sold over 4 million units — making it a veritable hit for Nintendo. The post-apocalyptic building game has likely sold more copies since then, but that figure is large enough to make Pokopia one of the top five best-selling Switch 2 games.
Bubbly Basin may also be of interest to all the Pokémon Winds and Waves fans who are still awaiting news of a release date for the mainline series. Both games will offer underwater exploration — but one will be playable much sooner than the other. Fans are already theorizing that both games might share an unexpected lore connection that's been brewing for 20 years.
