The Pokémon franchise has just celebrated its 30th birthday, and over the years we have had a ton of games to enjoy, within which everyone has their own personal favorites.

For those of you who peaked during the late 2000s and the original Nintendo DS era, those favorites may well be Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The games returned players to the original two regions, Johto and Kanto, essentially functioning as remakes of the original Gold and Silver, with some features from Pokémon Crystal thrown in for good measure.

They were genuinely impressive and yet relatively short-lived efforts that have since become quite expensive to get hold of, due to a limited production run creating a genuine scarcity, relative to the games released in the franchise as a whole. Now, it seems like fans want them to return once again, this time on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokémon Fans Are Desperate To See HeartGold & SoulSilver Return

Over on Twitter/X, the official Pokémon page celebrated the anniversary of the North American release of the games, on March 14, 2010, with a nostalgic video showing the two Legendary Pokémon on the loading screen.

That led to several responses from fans in which they expressed a heavy desire for Nintendo to re-release Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver on the Nintendo Switch 2, allowing a fresh generation to play, who otherwise might not be able to afford a hard copy on the Nintendo DS.

"NINTENDO!!!! GIVE ME A POKÉMON HGSS SWITCH RELEASE AND MY LIFE WILL BE YOURS!" one response read.

"Drop the remake of this one gang," another added, while a third simply said, "I need a Switch 2 version to refresh my memory on this."

It really does seem like bringing back both of the games as Switch 2 releases really would be a license for The Pokémon Company to print even more money than they already have.

Pokémon Fans Agree Gen Two Remains A Highlight

The second Generation of Pokémon games definitely remains an absolute high point in the franchise, particularly for those who were around at the time. From the regions to the Pokédex, it undoubtedly struck a great balance, building on the mechanics and features from the first Gen, and elevating the experience overall significantly.

That said, with Pokémon Winds and Waves undoubtedly the priority for some time to come, as well as continued support for Pokémon Pokopia, we wouldn't hold out too much hope for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver returning too soon.
