Pokémon GO: Best Teams For Master League and Love Cup: Great League Edition

1 month ago 34

The available cups in the GO Battle League in Pokémon GO have been updated once again, this week featuring The Master League and Love Cup: Great Editions. The current constant cycle of cups on offer as part of the GO Battle League is helping to keep the format as fresh as possible and mix up the teams you can use in a competitive environment. You can switch between the two types of matches from battle to battle with both counting towards your season's progress. It runs alongside the Beloved Buddies event that is also taking place this week.

Master League is the Ultimate Challenge in Pokémon GO PvP. There are no limits to which Pokémon you select or the CP they can be. This gives you complete freedom to experiment with different teams, although many Pokémon will simply not have a good enough max CP to compete. In comparison, the Love Cup: Great League has two big restrictions. Firstly, only Pokémon that have a CP below 1,500 can be used, like in the standard Great League battles. In addition, only red or pink colored Pokémon can be used as a tie-in to Valentine's Day. The events run from February 11 at 1 pm to February 18 at 1 pm.

Legendary Pokémon Are Key To Victory

With the Master League being open to all Pokémon, there are many options for you, but I have found that Legendary Pokémon are key, and you are putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don't use them. Some of the best teams you can currently use are Zygarde (Complete Forme), Palkia, and Solgaleo. Dragon- and Ground- dual type Zygarde has a type advantage over many other meta Pokémon. It can have Dragon-, Ground- or Dark-type attacks, meaning it can be set up to dominate an extensive range of possible line-ups.

Pokémon GO: Beloved Buddies Event Guide

If you aren't ready for the Beloved Buddies Event, you're going to end up falling behind because there's a lot of new raids and Pokémon coming.

Palkia has recently been available in raids and is another dual Dragon-type, meaning it is super-effective against all other Dragon-type. It excels in every area, especially with its strong attack stats, and is a great choice to have as your lead Pokémon. A tremendous third foil for the first two in your team is Solgaleo, who has recently increased in popularity in Master League. The dual Psychic- and Steel- type resists a vast number of Pokémon, and is super-effective against Fairy-types, which is the only real weakness both Zygarde and Palkia have.

In addition to normal rewards, for each battle won in one in either The Master League or Love Cu p:Great League Edition, trainers will also receive 4× Stardust.

The Love Cup Great League Edition returns from last week, with many Pokémon falling into the category of being Red or Pink. While this includes many favorites like Charizard, there are better options to help you win more matches in the GO Battle League. Lickilicky, Galarian Slowbro, and Hisuian Electrode are the best possible team you can use for the current Love Cup. They are all currently ranked in the top four for the cup.

If you're looking for some free rewards in Pokémon GO, make sure you check out the latest promo codes for December 2024 to see what you can claim.

Lickilicky can take a considerable amount of damage, and, as a pure Normal-type, it is only weak to Fighting-type attacks, which aren't commonly used in the GO Battle League. In addition, it can be taught a wide variety of moves for both its fast and charged attacks. Poison- and Psychic-type Galarian Slowbro is another with high HP. Like Lickilicky, it has a lot of moves to choose from, meaning you can set them both up so they are super-effective against several different types of Pokémon. Hisuian Electrode is a great third support option, with fast-hitting attacks that can wear down opponents' shields quickly.

Lots Of Different Options For Your Team

For the Master League, most Legendary or Mythical Pokémon are useful, with Landorus, Groudon, and Giratina all effective in specific line-ups. However, a great alternate team for the Master League is still Mewtwo, Zerneas, and Dragonite. The Generation One pairing are both heaving hitters, with Dragonite's meta position improving with its ability to be given the Fighting-type move Superpower.

Due to their low CP, any Pokémon with HP Stats perform well in the Love Cup: Great League Edition.

For the Love Cup: Great League, if you want straight swaps, Miltank can come in as a Normal-type with considerable health and a broad move set. Druddigon, set up with Dragon Claw, is also an excellent option for the Love Cup, as it is one of the better Dragon-types available. Clefable, Alomomola, and Medicham are also Pokémon that can be combined to have a significant effect on this specialized Cup. Despite the restrictions, I have found a much wider range of teams being used and tried out by other players in the Love Cup.

There are many options for both the Master League and Love Cup: Great League in Pokémon GO, but by using balanced teams, you can win more battles.
