Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.

Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.

As expected, Pokémon fans were treated to a first look at the Gen 10 Pokémon games at the end of the special 30th anniversary presentation, and the leaks were true. Pokémon Winds & Waves are very real, and we got a first look at the game's huge open world, various islands, and brand-new starter Pokémon.

Pokémon Winds & Waves Is Here

Take a look at the trailer below

Pokémon Winds & Waves doesn't name the new region in the trailer, but as you can see above, it's focused on sunny, tropical environments. Previous leaks suggest there'll be a ton of unique islands to explore, plus the ability to dive underwater and see what unique Pokémon are waiting down there.

We also got our look at the game's new starter Pokémon, all of whom look adorable. There's Browt, a grass-type chicken, Gecqua, a water-type gecko, and Pombon, a fire-type Pomeranian dog. I would die for Pombon. The trailer also unveiled two brand-new Pikachu who are dripped out to the max. Exactly how they factor into the game's story remains to be seen, but I for one can't wait to find out. In a just world, they'll be our new professors.

Finally, some good news: Pokémon Winds & Waves will be Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive, which hopefully means we can enjoy a Pokémon release without the now traditional discussion about graphics and performance. Certainly, this work-in-progress trailer already looks to be a considerable step up from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is a good sign. All we need to do now is wait until 2027. Sounds easy enough... right?
