If the 30th anniversary of Pokémon pans out, we could be getting a lot of Pokémon games as early as this year. But there are myriad fans who have been wanting ever since it was announced for Switch.

Over on multiple communities, including Reddit, fans are waiting for the release announcement for Pokémon Colosseum. Will we get it this month? According to many folks, we better!

Pokémon Colosseum Is Supposed To Be Coming To Switch 2

The Wait Is Real

All the way back in April 2025, Nintendo revealed that the Switch 2 would be getting GameCube games. It was a pretty nice announcement, as it's a feature fans have wanted for ages on the original Switch, but fans noticed a specific game on the marquee: Pokémon Colosseum.

It was official confirmation that Pokémon Colosseum was in the running to make it to the GameCube app on Switch 2 (along with Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness), but we've been waiting ever since then to no avail. Somehow, the drip-feed system of retro game releases has dragged on for nearly a year.

Fans aren't happy with this development. When asked if there's any information about its potential release (including leaks), one fan responded: "If there was, the sub would be blowing up with it."

Another fan, sensing how much of an ask this is, predicts they're delaying the game to add Pokémon Home functionality. While it would be a wild swing, given the lack of prompt Home functionality in Pokémon Z-A to this day, it doesn't seem likely.

They're not alone, though, as multiple other users chimed in, hoping it would become a reality: "No release date as far as I can see, Nintendo is like that sometimes. I’m not gonna hold my breath or anything but hoping it has Home connectivity."

One user is probably in the same boat as a lot of other fans: "I legit picked up a Switch 2 because they marketed it as if the Orre games would hit the GameCube emulator sooner than later. I don't regret my purchase, but there's been nothing exclusive to the Switch 2 yet that I can't play on my Switch OLED, so I guess I'm just extra prepared."

Some fans think it could take a lot longer than that: "I think Stadium was advertised when N64 was announced, and it took like 2 years." For reference, Stadium arrived on Nintendo Classics (N64) on Switch 1 in April of 2023. N64 functionality came to the Switch platform in October of 2021.

Ideally, the upcoming Pokémon 30th anniversary stream delivers on Pokémon Colosseum. It would offer a sense of closure for fans who have been waiting all this time.
