Jared is a writer, editor, and Communications Studies graduate who loves popular nerd culture (almost anything to do with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or The Lord of the Rings) and the interactive storytelling medium. Jared's first console was the PS1, wherein he fell for Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot.

Poison Ivy is a bit of an odd character when it comes to how many costume redesigns she’s had in the last 60 years. Some redesigns have been indistinguishable from all the other green bodysuits she’s worn and stashed away in her wardrobe of classic Poison Ivy costumes, and that has only made her fantastical appearances much more extraordinary.

For example, Poison Ivy’s most recent redesign has her assuming the role of Mayor of Gotham City and donning a green pantsuit, which will forever be an iconic representation of this era for the supervillain, even if the pantsuit itself isn’t incredibly unique or remarkable. It’s unknown what will become of Poison Ivy by the end of the major crossover event that Poison Ivy is indulging in, but one of her best looks ever—a real treat and challenge for Poison Ivy cosplayers—has been born from it a couple of months early.

Poison Ivy’s New Appearance Is Giving Unrealistic Body Goals

Poison Ivy #49, releasing this October, will feature a variant cover illustrated by Dan Mora. This cover is sensational, depicting Poison Ivy with her rib cage on full display and a lack of a midsection as she becomes one with vibrant flora in spectacular fashion.

This look emphasizes that Poison Ivy isn’t merely a woman with a green-hued complexion, but an ethereal plant goddess. She looks decidedly more plant than human, with her arms taking the form of leaves and other foliage, and her fiery hair marries well with the oranges, violets, and pinks that are interspersed with the greens.

Is Bad Seeds A Climactic Finale For Poison Ivy?

If Poison Ivy is to die at the end of DC’s Batman: Bad Seeds event, this would be the most stunning appearance she could possibly inherit, possibly becoming one with nature and completely forgoing however much humanity she was still clinging to. In fact, seeing as she decomposes or disintegrates in real time would be astonishing, with her flesh and bones slowly taking the form of bark, moss, and greenery until nothing left is recognizable in terms of how Poison Ivy used to look.

It’s increasingly likely that Poison Ivy’s death is imminent in this event, as it’s already been teased that Gotham City Police Commissioner Vandal Savage is “hiding a chemical weapon designed to kill Poison Ivy.” If successful, it’d be quite a bit of foreshadowing to then have Mora’s cover actually representing her eventual death this far in advance. The solicitation for Poison Ivy #49 is equally suspenseful and reads as follows:

NOWHERE TO RUN! Things seemed pretty good for Pamela Isley for a time there. Too bad the tables have turned. Now Poison Ivy finds herself stripped of all her power and trapped in a city where she’s public enemy number one. Can she make it out of Gotham alive, or is this the end for her once and for all? Find out in the penultimate chapter of the Bad Seeds saga!

Poison Ivy #49 is scheduled to be released on October 28, 2026.
