PlayStation intended to release its proprietary wireless fight stick controller, FlexStrike, alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls in August. After a last-minute indefinite delay, that will no longer be the case.
Earlier this year, PlayStation set an Aug. 6 release date for both FlexStrike and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Just a few weeks before its planned launch, PlayStation updated a blog post about FlexStrike pre-orders to explain that production delays have pushed back the controller's launch window.
"Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date. We will share an update soon," the post explains. "We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches."

Unfortunately, we don't know whether those who pre-ordered will be waiting just a couple of weeks or significantly longer for this controller.
This news is definitely disappointing for those who were hoping to play the first Marvel Comics-themed fighting game in nearly a decade with Sony's new controller. FlexStrike features all the bells and whistles you'd want in a fight stick, plus better compatibility with other DualSense controllers and PlayStation Link audio, making it pretty appealing despite its $199.99 price tag. It's also not a great look for Sony to bungle the launch of a physical product like FlexStrike just two weeks after announcing it won't produce new game discs starting in 2028.
Thankfully, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was not delayed because of this and is still set for an Aug. 6 launch on PS5 and Windows PC. An open beta for the game will be held between July 24 and July 26.
