If you love the grind in your video games or just want to add a couple of Platinum trophies to your PlayStation achievements list, there are not one but two new games for you to test your skills on—and they’re absolutely free to play.
The PlayStation Store now hosts The Legend of Fireball and Splash of Color in its catalog, and neither of them requires you to own a PlayStation Plus subscription. You can simply add them to your library at no cost. Both titles are incredibly fun, giving you just the right mixture of challenge and coziness with every round you play. And as a cherry on top, you can earn Platinum trophies for both with just a few hours (or less) worth of effort.
While the base edition is free, The Legend of Fireball does offer some microtransactions: You can spend money to buy gems that help you complete objectives faster or purchase premium editions for bundle offers. And if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you can enjoy additional discounts on these bundles until July 30. The Hot Edition is priced at $7.99, discounted to $5.59 for Plus members. It includes 500 gems and the Auto Fire booster, which helps a ton when you’re trying to focus on earning money and destroying targets without paying too much attention to aiming. The Starter bundle, on the other hand, offers 1,000 The Legend of Fireball gems and bundles another game—Bag Fight—alongside 100 gems for it, all for $11.99 ($8.39 with Plus). And lastly, the Deluxe Edition is available for $19.99 ($13.99 with Plus) and includes the following:
- Rath Alpha Pet
- Griffith Alpha Pet
- 1500 gems
- Auto Fire booster
You can purchase premium editions of Splash of Color, too, and avail yourself of discounts if you’re a Plus subscriber. The Wonderful Edition comes at $8.99 ($4.49 for Plus) and includes 80 new pictures, while the Complete Edition is priced at $19.99 ($9.99 for Plus) and includes 176 new pictures.
And if you don’t own a PlayStation console, don’t worry: You can play both these games for free on Xbox and Nintendo Switch as well.
In case you’re wondering what these games are about, let me give you an overview of both. Simply put, if you’re looking for a fun, surprisingly addictive game to grind, The Legend of Fireball is surely built to be your next favorite. You’ll spend your time making cash, destroying targets, and completing objectives as you progress. It’s easy to pick up, doesn’t require a huge time commitment, and is a great option if you’re hunting for another Platinum trophy in just a couple of hours.
Splash of Color, on the other hand, is a cozy experience that everyone can enjoy on a day of leisure. It’s a puzzle game that lets you piece together colorful pictures with satisfying moves. Best of all, if you’re playing just the base edition, it doesn’t take too long to complete, making it a stimulating choice for casual gamers.
