Plague Tale prequel Resonance pushes Sophia into the spotlight in its latest trailer, and it's launching this August

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the third game in developer Asobo's acclaimed historical action-adventure series, is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on 27th August.

We first heard official word of a new Plague Tale game during last year's Xbox Games Showcase, and one year later it's finally landed itself a release date with a brand-new trailer. We still don't know much about this third outing, however, other than that it'll whisk us back in time to explore the story of pirate Sophia prior to her debut in A Plague Tale: Requiem.

Beyond that, details remain rather thin. "Face deadly trials, navigate treacherous paths and uncover what was never meant to be revealed," teases the new trailer description.

Hopes are pretty high for this one, though. Eurogamer liked Asobo's previous Plague Tale outing, Requiem, a lot, calling it "an unforgettable story of desperation and hope in beautiful, gruesome, plague-ridden 14th Century France" in our four star review back in 2022.
