He was once MI6’s finest, killing all who threatened Queen and country. But as these exclusive pictures show, former 007 Pierce Brosnan is a little out of practice when it comes to wielding a handgun.
The Irish actor, 72, needed help getting to grips with a Glock semi-automatic pistol on set of the second series of crime drama MobLand.
Though, to be fair, it has been 23 years since his last James Bond film – and the weapon was hardly 007’s favoured Walther PPK.
Co-star Dame Helen Mirren, 80, on the other hand, seemed quite at home with a powerful Uzi submachine gun.
The pair are reprising their roles as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, the husband and wife heads of a crime family in a violent turf war with the rival Stevensons. The series also stars Tom Hardy as their fixer, Harry Da Souza.
Produced by Guy Ritchie, the first series of the Paramount+ show was seen by 26 million viewers. The second season is set to expand into a ‘darker, more ruthless’ storyline involving European gun and drug smuggling routes.

Some filming has already reportedly taken place in Spain, and most of the cast are returning including Paddy Considine, Downton’s Joanne Froggatt and Anson Boon.
Brosnan and Ms Mirren also recently filmed The Thursday Murder Club together for Netflix.
