Pi Network Moves Toward Usage-Based Pricing

Under the new model, App Studio charges will more closely follow the resources used during each AI operation. This means developers may no longer see one fixed price for every creation or editing request.

The Core Team said it will not add a markup to the underlying AI service costs. The network had covered much of those expenses during App Studio’s early stage to encourage testing and adoption.

Some developers can still access the previous subsidized rates. Pi Network said apps that attract enough distinct users may continue paying the lower creation and editing fees.

The team will use existing App Studio activity to select the first group of eligible applications. Developers who do not qualify at launch can still gain access later if their apps begin attracting regular users.

The Core Team said the revised structure aims to direct network support toward applications that show use. It also seeks to reduce spending on test projects, low-use experiments, and spam applications.

Eligibility will not remain fixed. The team said qualification rules may change as App Studio gathers more information about developer activity and user behavior across the wider platform.

The pricing update arrives as the broader crypto market posts strong gains. Bitcoin and several major altcoins have climbed by double digits over the past week, while PI has shown a weaker response.
