Peter Andre shares mental health struggles and anxiety battle after 'tough' year

Peter Andre has given an update on his mental health struggles he has experienced after having a 'tough' year. 

The pop star, 51, who is married to wife Emily, 35, explained that his struggles have largely resulted from his mother's health woes. 

While the singer touched on the amazing parts of the year, such as welcoming his youngest daughter, Arabella. he confessed that he has 'found parts of this year quite hard.'

Peter's mother, Thea, suffers from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and lives in Australia and the stress of her health has made him experiences feelings that he 'hasn't had for a long time'.

He told the Mirror: 'Although I’ve had a lot of highs in 2024, I did experience feelings of anxiety that I haven’t had for a long time, especially to do with my mum’s health. 

'I think that’s why I spoke a lot more about mental health, because I wanted to be open and admit that things aren’t always great.

Peter went on to explained that while Arabella has brought him 'so much joy' he 'can't help but worry about his mother'. 

He explained that he was planning a trip down under to visit both his parents. 

Earlier this year, Peter made a heartbreaking admission as he struggled to cope.

In his column for New! Magazine, Peter said: 'I can't believe I'm nearly 51. I was worried as I approached 50, but I'm over that and I feel great.

'I'm loving life and age is just a number. You can live life to the fullest at any age. 

'I will be honest, though, the only thing that makes me sad about getting older is that my parents are too.'

Peter continued: 'Although I thank God my parents are still here, I am seeing the rapid decline, especially in Mum. I find that part hard to deal with.

Peter wrote alongside the video: 'My 91 year old dad giving flowers to my beautiful mum with his classic one liner for their 69th wedding anniversary. 'Honestly, they inspire me so so much.'

Peter and Emily have children - Amelia, 10, and Theo, seven, and  and Peter has Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, with Katie Price, 45 

'Like most people, l'm so close to my parents that it is really difficult to come to terms with.' 

The Mysterious Girl hitmaker has spoken in length about how it is 'very tough and emotional' to watch Thea's health decline.

The hit makers also has Amelia, 10, and Theo, seven, and Arabella, six months, with Emily. 

He married Emily in a lavish ceremony at Mamhead House in Exeter in 2015 after the pair met in 2010 through Emily's surgeon father Ruaraidh MacDonagh. 

Ruaraidh was Peter’s consultant during surgery for kidney stones in 2010 and, knowing she was a fan of his music, introduced her to him.

The pair developed a friendship but did not begin dating until summer 2012.
