After a year-long wait since the initial reveal of Persona 4 Revival, not only did we get a brand-new gameplay trailer to get fans excited for the upcoming remake, but we also got an official release date to look forward to as well. Following a similar formula to the critically acclaimed release of Atlus' Persona 3 Reloaded, the remake of Persona 4 will also include plenty of quality-of-life features, gameplay enhancements, and major visual overhauls.
Being a remake of one of the best entries in the series to date, Persona 4 Revival's turn-based, supernatural JRPG experience is an excellent jumping-in point for both new players, while still having plenty of enhancements to make it worth revisiting for long-time fans of the series.
Persona 4 Revival Release Date
Although Persona fans aren't exactly strangers when it comes to long wait times between entries, Persona 4 Revival is releasing far sooner than expected, with its current release date scheduled to launch on February 18, 2027. Despite initial concerns over some rumored Xbox exclusivity, not only will Persona 4 Revival release in early 2027, but it will also be available on a wide array of systems from Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch 2 seems to be completely absent from the marketing materials and digital storefronts, meaning you won't be able to play Persona 4 Revival on the handheld for quite some time.
This isn't to say that Persona 4 Revival won't ever be playable on the Switch 2 at least, as the most recent release of Persona 3 Reloaded still managed to make its way to the system eventually, albeit a year and a half after its initial launch.
Persona 4 Revival Pre-Orders & Game Editions
The release of Persona 4 Revival also comes with more than a few versions that can be hard to keep track of, ranging from simple digital downloads all the way to a massive collector's edition for superfans of the series to enjoy. Regardless of which edition you buy, simply pre-ordering a Persona 4 Revival in advance will grant you the Persona 3 Reloaded and Persona 5 Royal extra background music packs as a free download for fans.
Persona 4 Revival's background music packs include the Basement Dungeon BGM: Basement, Boss Battle BGM: Heartful Cry Result BGM: After the Battle from Persona 3 Reload, and Dungeon BGM: The Whims of Fate, Normal Battle BGM: Will Power, and Result BGM: Triumph from Persona 5 Royal.
Similar to the recent release of 007 First Light, Amazon is also offering an exclusive version of Persona 4 Revival, which offers 4 double-sided cards as a physical reward, but notably can't be purchased as a part of any deluxe or collector's editions.
Another unique aspect of Persona 4 Revival's release is that it offers two digital deluxe editions, one of which is a standard version, and a premium that includes all the standard digital deluxe edition rewards, including a few extra additions of exclusive cosmetics and alternative background music, the rewards of which can be found below for all versions of the game:

Of course, the biggest prize for fans easily comes from the $249.99 collector's edition, which includes all the previous rewards, in addition to an exclusive artbook, steelbook, a full statue of Persona 4's protagonist, and more. Japanese players even have their own variant of the collector's edition as well, which comes with a few exclusive goodies like a phone pouch, T-shirt, and designer box, but it unfortunately isn't available in global regions.
Persona 4 Revival's Biggest Changes From The Original
Although Persona 4 Revival will offer the same storyline and core gameplay mechanics with its turn-based combat and dungeon exploring formula, there are still several differences that drastically shake up the gameplay experience, even if some haven't been going over well with long-time fans of the series.
The biggest thing returning players will notice when jumping into Persona 4 Revival is that the entire English original voice acting cast has been replaced for the remake. Even if it is sad to lose some of Persona 4's most iconic voice acting moments, the new cast has already been praised by players, which is helped by the fully animated cutscenes that are replacing the more static visual-novel style cinematics from the original game.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Persona remake if there weren't a plethora of gameplay changes and new features to look forward to as well, with combat getting a few major overhauls for a more engaging experience. The first major mechanic being brought back is the Baton Pass from Persona 5, which allows characters to give their turns to other party members, offering more room for strategy and taking full advantage of enemy weaknesses.
Persona 4 Revival also introduces a Prime Time ability, which is a bar that, when filled, covers all costs of abilities for a series of consecutive attacks, which is followed up by a final attack that deals massive damage to enemies.
To streamline the experience more, Persona 4 Revival also offers a one-button-per-ability UI instead of the scrolling menus of the past, the ability to guard to stop surprise attacks in dungeons, and the chance that enemies hit while afflicted with a status can occasionally be sent flying into each other to deal additional damage and spread afflictions between them.
While it's clear Revival has more than a few exciting changes to look forward to, there's still plenty of room for even more minor gameplay changes or new surprises in store for fans, which we'll get to see in action when Persona 4 Revival releases on February 18, 2027.
