
Perfect Crown has become the latest Korean title to break through on streaming. The romantic comedy has driven more than 43M hours viewed globally to-date across Disney+ and Hulu, per the Walt Disney Company.
The series has achieved audience growth weekly, including a 43% increase in views in seven days for Episode 8 compared to the premiere. Based on seven-day data, Perfect Crown is a the top Korean title of all time globally on Disney+ and Hulu, the Mouse House says.
Perfect Crown appears to be traveling quite well. Disney says it’s the “most globally traveled Korean premiere on Disney+ to date” based on 28 days of views. It’s No. 1 in USA and Canada, EMEA and LATAM; Germany, Spain, UK and Italy; Argentina, Brazil and Mexico; and Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.
Perfect Crown follows the people’s favorite royal, Grand Prince I-AN, as he becomes embroiled in a power struggle with other members of the royal family. With pressure on the prince to wed, he strikes up a marriage of convenience with Huiju, the heir to a Korean conglomerate, but as the pair work together to advance their own ends, emotions begin to flare and things don’t go quite as smoothly as planned.
The series stars IU (When Life Gives You Tangerines, My Mister) as Huiju, the second in line to inherit one of Korea’s biggest conglomerates, and Byeon Wooseok (Lovely Runner, Strong Girl Nam-soon) as Grand Prince I-AN. The series is directed by Park Joonhwa (Alchemy of Souls, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim) and is written by Yoo Jiwon.
The two-episode season finale debuts over the weekend.
