Disney+ won't premiere a new season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians until late November, but this week, the fantasy series is getting a surprising new release. Based on Rick Riordan's popular book series, Percy Jackson leans into Greek mythology and centers on the titular demigod as he battles against enemies after discovering the truth about his lineage.

Two seasons have been released so far on Disney+, with both installments earning rave reviews from critics, who have given Percy Jackson a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Disney announced it was ordering a third season almost an entire year before season 2 had even premiered, with a release date set for November 20. Returning Percy Jackson cast members include Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell and Tamara Smart.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians Is Getting A Huge Streaming Expansion This Year

There are still about three weeks until Percy Jackson season 3 premieres, so until then, Disney is attempting to expand the reach of the show as much as possible. The first two seasons will be available to stream on Hulu beginning November 1. Hulu is adding several more titles to its platform that same day, like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Aliens, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Devil Wears Prada, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Miracle on 34th Street and War for the Planet of the Apes.

This expansion on Hulu comes after Percy Jackson seasons 1 and 2 were added to Netflix for a three-month window that ends January 3, 2027. It's part of a new licensing deal Disney has with Netflix that also includes the Ice Age franchise, Soul, Raya and the Last Dragon and Elio, and TV shows like Will Trent, Shifting Gears and Fresh Off the Boat. Disney already licenses shows like Grey's Anatomy to Netflix, where all past seasons can be streamed.

Will Percy Jackson Season 3 Be Released On Hulu?

Every week, episodes of Percy Jackson season 3 will be released simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu, though it's unclear how long the entire season will stay on Hulu or whether it will revert to being a Disney+ exclusive after all eight episodes have been released. If the series gets a fourth season, it's possible that the House of Mouse will employ a similar strategy across multiple platforms like Hulu and Netflix in the lead-up to the premiere.

Percy Jackson season 3 is based on Riordan's novel The Titan's Curse. It's the first time that this book is being adapted for the screen. In 2010 and 2013, 20th Century Fox released films based on the first two books, The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters, but they failed to become huge hits for the studio and faced negative reviews, including from the author himself. With the TV series, Disney has placed Riordan in a prominent creative position as co-creator and executive producer, ensuring a much more faithful adaptation. Hulu subscribers will be able to check it out for themselves very soon.
