Peppa Pig the popstar! Talented swine releases a Rihanna cover as she drops surprise fifth album

She's been rushed off her hooves helping to care for her little sister Evie. 

Yet talented piglet Peppa Pig hasn't let her sibling duties get in the way of advancing her singing career as she's just announced her fifth album. 

The swine soloist is rebranding however, and following on from the success of her four studio albums she is now going down the pop route, recording a cover album. 

Unafraid to go snout-to-head with some of the biggest pop stars on the planet, Peppa has taken on versions of tunes from Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, BTS, Katy Perry. 

And undoubtedly Peppa will have been feeling like the only sow in the world on Friday when she released the music video for her cover of Rihanna's Diamonds, with fans left squealing in delight at Peppa's vocals. 

However, there are some differences to the 2012 hit because Peppa rewrote the lyrics to ensure they were appropriate for a four-year-old piggy to oink out.

Peppa first teased news of her new single in an Instagram post on Thursday, sharing a snap against the backdrop of a diamond and penning: 'something is coming'.

Rihanna will no doubt be as tickled pink as Peppa about the news, given her children are big fans of the British swine. 

The Bajan singer, 37, shares children RZA, three, Riot, two and Rocki, four months, with partner A$AP Rocky, 37. 

Rocky, who has just released his comeback album Don't Be Dumb, previously sang Peppa's praises. 

He told Dazed in 2022: 'I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what. 

'I actually love to watch cartoons – I’ve watched like, Teletubbies, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig and Baby Shark. 

'I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.'

Fans will be no doubt be hoping that all the musical influence around Rihanna will inspire her to release new music of her own. 

There have been whispers the singer is gearing up to release her first album in 10 years. 

Now with Peppa covering her music, Rocky making a musical comeback and the Grammy Awards days away, fans will be hoping it inspires Rihanna.   

Peppa's exciting news follows on from a big change to the Pig family. 

Last year, Mummy Pig broke the internet when she revealed that she was set to welcome her third piglet.

On Good Morning Britain, it was then revealed that Mummy Pig gave birth at 5:34AM on May 25 to a little girl named Evie - named after Mummy Pig's aunt. 

 Mummy Pig, who has a job involving doing 'very important work' on her computer and Daddy Pig, who 'takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents,' welcomed their little girl at the Lindo Wing in London. 

It is the same location where Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children, and prices at the the exclusive maternity ward at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington start at £5,900 for just one night.

The birth was announced with a royal-inspired twist on the classic royal birth announcement, complete with a town crier, a scroll-style proclamation, and the unveiling of an official Peppa Pig birth certificate.

Big siblings Peppa and George were said to be over the moon and excited to meet their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig were 'looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights.'

Peppa Pig first aired in 2004 and has since been broadcast in 180 territories and translated into 40 languages. It's spawned books, toys and even two theme parks, with the global Peppa empire now worth over £1billion.
