Patriots’ Drake Maye Shares Emotional Reaction After Super Bowl Loss

Drake Maye is finding the positives after his Super Bowl 2026 loss.

While the New England Patriots quarterback wasn’t able to help his team score a victory at against the Seattle Seahawks during the Feb. 8 matchup, he credited head coach Mike Vrabel for his leadership, getting choked up while describing the 50-year-old’s vitality to the team.

“He was the heartbeat, no doubt about that,” Drake said during a post-game press conference. “He was a big reason why we’re here. He’s always the same and I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time.”

The 23-year-old added, “He's a great person and a hell of a football coach.”

Still, the Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the Patriots was a tough pill to swallow for Drake, who would have eclipsed Ben Roethlisberger as the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl had the faceoff unfolded differently. And he didn’t shy away from his feelings about the final score, telling reporters his team’s loss “definitely hurts.”

“I’d like to go back to the beginning and redo it,” Drake admitted with a chuckle. “There’s numerous plays in the first half where I felt like I could’ve made a better throw or made a better decision. It just comes down to who makes the plays and who doesn’t, and [the Seahawks] made plays tonight.”

But despite his defeat, Drake—who married Ann Michael Maye, 22, in June—was still able to make light of his emotional display.

“Those plays that can change the game matter,” he noted. “If you make them, you're celebrating. If you're not, you’re sitting here crying at a podium.”

Drake may not have clinched his first Super Bowl victory, but he certainly drew a crowd. To see all the stars who hit the Bay Area for the big game, keep scrolling…
