Paris Saint-Germain nears €35M deal for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki

PSG is on the verge of landing one of the most coveted young goalkeepers in European football. The Ligue 1 powerhouse is reportedly close to agreeing a deal worth approximately €35 million, including performance-related add-ons, to sign Zion Suzuki from Serie A side Parma.

A winding path to Paris

PSG’s opening gambit of €28 million plus €5 million in bonuses was rejected by Parma. A revised offer of around €33 million followed. Also rejected. Now the French club appears to have found the magic number at €35 million, a figure that includes performance bonuses.

Suzuki’s market value has climbed to an estimated €30 million, a trajectory boosted significantly by his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he served as Japan’s starting goalkeeper.

Standing at 1.90 m with exceptional jumping ability and powerful distribution, Suzuki possesses a modern goalkeeper toolkit that top clubs demand. His long throws reportedly exceed 20 meters in distance.

Born in Newark, New Jersey on August 21, 2002, Suzuki has accumulated 28 senior international caps for Japan. He became the youngest player to sign a professional contract with Urawa Red Diamonds at 16, before developing his skills at Belgian side Sint-Truiden prior to his move to Parma in July 2024.

The Juventus wrinkle

Juventus expressed their own interest in Suzuki earlier this summer and had bids turned down by Parma, unable to match the financial firepower PSG brought to the negotiating table. Reports suggest that PSG could loan Suzuki to Juventus after completing the purchase, or alternatively keep him in Paris.

That playing-time question is central to the remaining negotiations. PSG already has an established goalkeeper roster, and Suzuki reportedly wants assurances that he won’t be on the bench. A loan to Juventus could solve that problem, giving Suzuki Serie A continuity while PSG holds his registration.

As of early August 2026, the deal hasn’t been formally completed. Negotiations continue, with Suzuki’s playing-time demands and the Juventus loan option still being ironed out.
