Paris Saint-Germain leaves Bradley Barcola out of squad for Monaco clash

Bradley Barcola, the 24-year-old French attacker who became PSG’s most expensive departure ever, was conspicuously absent from the club’s squad list for their fixture against AS Monaco.

Barcola completed his transfer to Liverpool on August 31, 2026, in a deal reportedly worth 125 million euros with an additional 20 million euros in potential bonuses. That price tag made him PSG’s largest sale in the club’s history.

From Lyon to Paris to Anfield

He joined PSG from Lyon in August 2023 for 45 million euros. Across his three seasons at the Parc des Princes, Barcola racked up 152 appearances and 39 goals across all competitions.

His record against Monaco specifically has been decent if unspectacular: one goal and two assists in seven Ligue 1 appearances against the principality club.

PSG’s decision to sell came at a time when Barcola’s stock was near its peak. Turning a 45 million euro investment into a 125 million euro sale, potentially rising to 145 million with bonuses, is the kind of transfer business that even the most spend-happy clubs can appreciate.

Injury concerns cloud the picture

The forward suffered a right ankle ligament sprain in March 2026 that sidelined him for multiple weeks, and recovery from that injury has been a lingering issue. His late-summer transfer to Liverpool meant he missed preseason entirely with his new club. That combination of factors has reportedly delayed his debut at Anfield as of early September 2026.
