Makuochi Echebiri is a News Writer for Collider.  He has been interested in creative writing from as far back as high school, and he would consume pretty much anything that’s film or TV. However, his truest love lies in the presence of historical epics and thrillers.

Lured by the brilliance of Middle Earth from an early age both in print and on screen, his palate has since expanded to other realms including Westeros, Kattegat among others. He also possesses a great appetite for the stories that emanate from the vastness of space. Even though he is no Avenger.

Obsessed with storytelling and having works of his own that have yet to make it to print, he is content to use that ability to communicate to as many as are reachable. In his spare time, he looks out for avenues where he can aid people aside from his plans to reign over this earthly realm. Yes…you heard that first here.

We have never had it this good in entertainment, especially when it comes to television. In every genre, there is a stellar individual shaping the future of the industry. While George R.R. Martin continues to shape the direction of travel for fantasy series through the adaptation of his written works, acclaimed writer and director Taylor Sheridan dominates his own sphere, with Paramount a direct recipient of his immense quality, for the time being at least.

Paramount+'s latest hit neo-Western drama, Landman, is a Sheridan offering, and prior to its reign, the streamer enjoyed the success offered by his other flagship neo-Western program, Yellowstone. The Sheridan-verse would not be complete, though, without the incredible 10-part miniseries, 1883. However, these alone are not the full extent of Sheridan's work, as the creator has an underrated action series that is nearing a return. Lioness is an espionage-driven, female-led action series that launched in July 2023 and has since attracted viewers worldwide across multiple platforms.

The finale for Season 2 aired on December 8, 2024, and filming for a third season began soon after a renewal was secured. The series ensures that James Jordan remains firmly in the Sheridan-verse, given that his time on Landman may have come to an end, for now. The actor, who plays Two Cups, an experienced special operations soldier in the Lioness series, spoke to Screen Rant about Season 3's progress. Jordan, while being careful not to venture too far into spoilers, promises that "the scale is even bigger" coming into Season 3:

"The writing just gets deeper and deeper, and I think that's what audiences want. They're introduced to a character, now they want to see what's under the skin of that character, what really makes him tick. And Taylor being an actor himself, I think he wants to investigate character. He doesn't care much about plot, neither do we. We want to know what makes these folks tick, and audiences do too, and that's what keeps them coming back, I think. So, we're excited to explore that as well."

Who Makes Up the Cast of 'Lioness'?

In its two previous seasons, Lioness has certainly impressed with its action series, following Zoe Saldaña's Joe McNamara, a CIA senior case officer leading the titular undercover counterterrorism team. The series also stars Nicole Kidman as part of the all-star ensemble, which also includes Jill Wagner's Bobby, LaMonica Garrett's Tucker, Austin Hébert's Randy, and Jonah Wharton's Tex. Also playing Joe's superiors are Michael Kelly as Byron Westfield and Morgan Freeman as Edwin Mullins. Plot details for Season 3 remain under wraps, but the cast has since expanded, with Yellowstone veteran Ian Bohen being added to the cast as a series regular. Mayor of Kingstown star, Elizaveta Neretin, has also been tapped for a major role.

Lioness streams on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Collider for more information.
