Paramount+ Returns To Reality With Relationship Series ‘Making Love’ From Kinetic Content

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount+ is making its first major statement in the reality TV space since it came under new leadership.

The streamer has ordered a relationship dating series from Kinetic Content, the company behind Netflix’s Love Is Blind and Peacock’s Married at First Sight.

It will launch Making Love (w/t) in 2027 – its first unscripted greenlight since David Ellison’s Skydance took control of the studio and installed Cindy Holland as Chair of Direct-to-Consumer and Jane Wiseman as Head of Originals.

Deadline understands that Wiseman led the charge on this one, buying the project from Chris Coelen’s North Road Company-backed company, before bringing in her former Netflix colleague Damla Dogan to help on the unscripted side.

Making Love is a “bold new relationship experiment, where singles take their destiny into their own hands and attempt to turn their desires into a lifetime of love,” per Paramount+. The logline asks: Can you find the person you’ve always dreamed of?

Kinetic Content CEO Coelen created the series and will exec produce.

Kinetic, which is part of Peter Chernin’s entertainment empire that is in the process of being acquired by European studio Mediawan, has made statement defining reality shows for a number of broadcasters and streamers. Love Is Blind is arguably Netflix’s biggest unscripted hit and is currently in its 10th season. Married at First Sight was one of A+E Networks biggest shows for 10 years before a shock move to Peacock last year, with Season 19 airing on the NBCU streamer in October.

Paramount+ previously had a rocky history with unscripted; it was behind a number of streaming spinoffs of long-running shows such as The Real World Homecoming, The Challenge: All Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Ink Master and All Star Shore but only had a few standalone originals such as The Family Stallone.

The unscripted business has been holding out hope that under Wiseman and Holland, Paramount+ will become another major buyer of reality formats and series to rival the likes of Netflix and the broadcast networks.

“We are thrilled to add Making Love, a bold, modern take on relationship experimentation to our upcoming content slate,” Wiseman said. “This series speaks to the kind of premium, pop culture-driving unscripted storytelling audiences love. As we continue to grow our reality offering, we’re especially excited to reintroduce this format to Paramount+ in a fresh and unexpected way.”

Added Coelen: “Making Love is an amazing and completely original opportunity for our participants to find the love they’ve longed for. We’re so excited to partner with the team at Paramount+ and can’t wait to share this show, and some truly incredible love stories, with the world.”
