Rene Augustine, who served in the White House and Justice Department during President Donald Trump‘s first term, has been named senior vice president of global public policy at Paramount.
Augustine will report to Makan Delrahim, chief legal officer for Paramount, and will be based in Washington.
Delrahim wrote in a note to staffers, “Rene is a highly respected attorney who has excelled in all three branches of government and the private sector. She has worked in a bipartisan manner with the highest security clearances in the government.” She will start on Feb. 17.
She joins the company after the departure of DeDe Lea, the longtime head of global public policy and government relations.
Augustine most recently has been co-chair of the John F. Kennedy Center National Committee for the Performing Arts and, before that, was a presidential appointee to the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts.
She served as deputy assistant attorney general in the Antitrust Division at the DOJ from 2019 to 2021, when Delrahim led the division. During that time, she oversaw the international antitrust and competition, policy and advocacy sections. She also served as senior associate counsel in the White House counsel’s office from 2017 to 2018. She also had senior roles during the George W. Bush administration and for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Last month, Paramount announced Ted Lehman as senior vice president and head of U.S. public policy and government affairs.
