Panasonic has announced even more colorways for the Lumix S9 camera, this time bringing new white/silver and black/silver colorways to the United States.

These new cameras were introduced in the European market in October and remained exclusive to the region until now. However, Europe also got a silver/blue S9 in October, officially called “Ocean Blue,” which is not included in the new drop for American photographers. Also, it is worth noting that these same colorways were called Jet Black and Smokey White in Europe, while they are just white/silver and black/silver in the U.S. It’s not clear what the reason for the disparity is.

Two silver Panasonic Lumix cameras with large lenses are displayed against a monochrome mountain landscape background, with the cameras appearing in color and the scenery in black and white.

Aside from the exterior design, the new Lumix S9 colorways are functionally identical to all prior Lumix S9 cameras. As a refresher, the full-frame mirrorless camera features a 24.2-megapixel image sensor inside Panasonic’s smallest-ever full-frame camera body. The camera eschews an EVF in favor of a compact, lightweight form factor. It is primarily aimed at style-conscious content creators and includes a clever Real Time LUT mode that lets photographers build and share their own unique looks.

While the Lumix S9 didn’t particularly impress PetaPixel‘s reviewers at launch in 2024, despite its stylish appearance and charming design. Firmware updates and a new Lumix S 18-40mm f/4.5-6.3 kit lens significantly improved the Lumix S9 experience. It has been popular with customers since launch, and it is now popular with critics, too, following continued post-launch support.

Speaking of the 18-40mm kit lens, this is the standard option available alongside the new Lumix S9 colorways. The white/silver and black/silver S9 cameras are not available as body-only options and must be purchased with the Lumix S 18-40mm lens for $1,599.99, a $200 discount off the typical price. This discount is slated to expire at the end of the day on January 31.

Existing black, Night Blue, Dark Olive, Crimson Red, and Sakura (pink) Lumix S9 cameras are available body-only for $1,399.99. The super-stylish limited edition Titanium Gold model released last October has, sadly, sold out.
