Peacock may not be thought of in the same light as some of the other big streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video, but the platform is on the rise as it has debuted some massive hits over the last few months. The streamer closed out the year with The Copenhagen Test, the spy thriller with a twist of sci-fi starring Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Melissa Barrera (Scream). It also recently debuted All Her Fault, the intensely bingeable thriller starring Sarah Snook (Succession) that became its biggest show ever. All Her Fault recently debuted on Prime Video internationally, and it’s also been taking over streaming charts.
Peacock’s new exciting thriller series is M.I.A., the new crime drama created by Bill Dubuque (Ozark) and showrun by Karen Campbell (Dexter). Peacock has released an official synopsis for the show, which stars Shannon Gisela, Cary Elwes, Danay Garcia, Brittany Adebumola, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco, and Marta Milans:
“Restless in the Florida Keys, Etta Tiger Jonze dreams of a life in Miami's glittering, sub-tropical kingdom. When her family's drug-running business shatters in tragedy, however, Etta embarks on a dangerous journey through Miami's neon-lit underbelly that will define who she is and what she's ultimately capable of.”
While Peacock often gives its shows weekly releases, all episodes of M.I.A. will begin streaming on May 7. The platform has also debuted the first images of the show, which can be found below. Alethea Jones, renowned for her work on ABC’s High Potential, will direct the first episode of the series and also executive produce. All episodes will be around an hour long, so the show will be perfect for a weekend binge.
